Did you know? As we celebrate America's 250th anniversary, we honor the extraordinary contributions of Native American Code Talkers during World War I and II. While many know the vital role of the Navajo Code Talkers, members of at least 16 different Native American tribes helped develop and use unbreakable codes to support U.S. military operations.
Using their native languages as the foundation for secure communication, these brave individuals provided a critical advantage on the battlefield—helping ensure messages could not be deciphered by enemy forces.
Their ingenuity, courage, and service played a meaningful role in securing success in the war effort. Today, we recognize and remember their legacy as an essential part of American history.
