In October Cape Fear Vocational Services Area Director, Sarah Bass, had the opportunity to attend the 2024 Assistive Technology Expo in Raleigh, NC. It was truly inspiring to see the technology that has been developed to assist people with various needs! There were all terrain mobility devices, smart medication dispensers with video capability, braille operated computers, screens that tracked eye movement to interact and everything in between. Knowing the technology available to those that we serve will help in deciding how best to foster independence.

Cape Fear Group Homes, Inc is thrilled to announce that we have been awarded a 2024 Landfall Foundation Grant. The Board of Directors has approved a Capital Grant for the Cape Fear Group Homes in the amount
of $27,000 to purchase new classroom furniture and to paint the Day Services building as part of ongoing efforts to remodel the facility. More specifically, the grant funds will be used to support the following capital improvement projects:
 to paint the interior of the 2500 sq. ft. space
 new furniture and equipment in the classrooms and vocational space.

Robert (Bob) Harootyan Chair, Capital Grants Committee says, "We believe that funding this project will help the Foundation fulfill its mission of promoting arts, education, and health and welfare in our community".

After a tour of our Day Services program, the check was presented by Mr. Harootyan, Executive Board Secretary, and John Earl, Executive Board Operations VP of the Landfall Foundation. Accepting were Ed Walsh, Executive Director, Anita Ford, CFGH Project Development Coordinator.

The Landfall Foundation was formed as a means for Landfall residents to thoughtfully and confidently extend support to greater Wilmington area non-profit organizations. Grants are awarded after our Grants Committee evaluates applications for projects and programs in the areas of the arts, education, health and welfare. This valuable contribution to smaller organizations, that are often underfunded, makes a major impact on the vital needs of our community.
