The Elsmere Fire Company is a Combination Department proudly providing Fire, Rescue and Emergency Medical Services to Elsmere, Delaware for over 100 years!

06/08/2026

This afternoon, 6/8 at approximately 1400 hrs Station 16 was dispatched to the area of the 1300 block of Maple Ave for an unknown outside fire. While enroute, New Castle County Dispatch Center began to receive additional calls that advised that this was a House on Fire upgrading the response to a Full Box Alarm. Squad 16 arrived to report smoke showing from the rear and assumed the first due engine to begin extinguishing the fire. Mutual aid companies assisted with additional extinguishment and searches through out. Assistant 16( Facciolo) held the Elsmere Command. Units remained on scene for approximately 2 hours.

05/24/2026

At approximately 2030 Hrs this evening 5/23, On duty crews were contacted by EPD for a kitten stuck in the bumper of a police cruiser. Crews worked to remove the kitten from the under carriage of the cruiser. Kitten was removed and has safely been taken for further care.

05/17/2026

In the early morning hours of 5/17, Engine 16 was alerted to respond on the 2nd alarm assignment to assist City Of Wilmington on a Structure fire. Engine 16 arrived on scene and assisted with suppression efforts. Engine 16 also supplied Tower 12 for master stream operations. Engine 16 remained on scene for approximately 3 hours before being cleared by command.

04/26/2026

At approximately 1600 Hrs, Station 16 was dispatched along with Station 14 and NCC Paramedics to the area of the Centre Rd for a MVC with Vehicle Reported Overturned. B16 along with NCC Paramedics treated and transported 1 patient. Assistant 16(Games) held the Elsmere command.

04/13/2026

At approximately 1900 hrs on 4/12, Tower 16 responded to assist Station 17 on a low angle rescue. A 3:1 was anchored off of Tower 16 and a ground ladder was utlized for a haul sled. Victim extrication time was just under 15 minutes.

04/05/2026

Overnight on 4/4 at approximately 2100 Hrs, The station was alerted for box 1650 for a Garage on Fire. Assistant chief 16(Games) arrived and confirmed Fire Showing from a Detached Structure. Squad 16 arrived shortly after and assumed the role of the First Due Engine company to extinguish fire in the structure. Mutual aid companies assisted with searches and ventilation. Crews remained on scene for about 2 hours.

03/26/2026

On 3/26, At approximately 0900hrs Tower 16 was alerted for box 2110 along with mutual aid units for a reported house fire with subjects trapped in the 3800 block of Hutchison Road. Station 21 arrived on scene and reported Fire showing. Tower 16 arrived as the second due special service. Tower 16s crew split and completed a quick search on the first floor where they were able to locate a victim, Tower 16s crew removed the subject outside where CPR was started and turned over to awaiting EMS crews. Crews continued to complete searches on all floors which proved to be negative. Tower 16 then began to open up for overhaul and asssist with ventilation. Tower 16 operated for approximately 2 hours before clearing.

All patients were transported to area hospitals for further treatment. The State Fire Marshall’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.

On Saturday, we had the honor of celebrating 105 incredible years of service, dedication, and community at the Elsmere Fire Company banquet.

While this milestone marks over a century of commitment, the evening was truly about recognizing the members—past and present—who have made it all possible. Their bravery, teamwork, and sacrifice continue to shape the strong foundation we stand on today.

A heartfelt thank you to all of our members, staff, and supporters who keep this proud tradition going. Here’s to celebrating our history and looking ahead to many more years of service! 🚒❤️

02/28/2026

This evening 2/27, At approximately 1730hrs box 2330 was transmitted for a Building Fire in the 300 block of Airport Rd. Engine 23 arrived on scene and reported smoke showing. Tower 16 made the response from the road. Tower 16 arrived as the third due special service and assumed the role of the RIT company until re assigned by command to assist with opening up and located fire in void spaces. Tower 16 also assisted with ventilation. Tower 16 operated for approximately 2 hours before clearing.
