Since its inception three decades ago, Action has always emphasized the importance of customer service. The organization, which was created in 1977 by David and Stanley Portman, was founded on the core principles of customer loyalty. The Portmans' father, Dr. Harry Portman, was a local physician known for his selfless acts of kindness. Dr. Portman understood that an important part of patient care was customer service. During every employee orientation, the company expresses this corporate ideology and expects all members to always embrace the importance of the "little thing" in customer service. Overall, Action EMS proudly stays true to both its Mission Statement and its Vision Statement, which sum it up perfectly: "People helping people."

Twenty-five years ago this morning, 2,977 people were killed. 412 of them were first responders who went toward the Twin Towers.

While New York fought, back home we watched, we waited, and we stood ready for whatever came next.

That instinct is the heart of this profession. Twenty-five years later, we honor the people lost that day, the responders who kept working in the months that followed, and the ones we have lost since to the illnesses they carried home from Ground Zero.

Today, we remember. We will Never Forget.
