We had to call in some reinforcement from Mr. Brown with this heavy trash bag.

😂 IF YOU KNOW, YOU KNOW…

Parking at the Trask/Laney campus is basically an Olympic sport at dismissal. 🏆🚗

We know athletic events + dismissal time can make the parking situation a little… exciting. 😅 But here’s the deal:

🚌 BUS LOT: In order to safely get our students onto their buses, the bus parking lot will NOT open until all buses have picked up students.
⏰ Earliest opening for athletic events: 3:45 PM

🚨 EMERGENCY ACCESS GATE: Please, PLEASE do not block it. This gate is reserved for our first responders in case of an emergency.

🚫 Block the gate or park in front of the “NO PARKING” cones = TICKET. 🎟️

Thanks for doing your part to keep our campus safe during dismissal and athletic events

All Trask Families!
As part of the NHCS Strategic Plan, Trask is in Phase 2 of Safe & Civil Schools, where we are building systems and structures that maximize instructional time and create predictable, supportive learning environments for every student.
Our teachers are creating classroom management plans using CHAMPS:
C — Conversation: How do we talk?
H — Help: How do we get help?
A — Activity: What are we doing?
M — Movement: Where can we move?
P — Participation: What does active participation look like?
S — Success: What does it look and sound like when we are successful?
Even better, our students are helping shape what these expectations look like in their classrooms! Student voice matters, and when students understand the expectations and have a role in creating them, they are better equipped to take ownership of their learning.
Check out these visuals in Mrs. Harper’s classroom! She is also helping our Bears understand how they learn best, recognize their strengths and needs, and use that knowledge to advocate for themselves as learners.
This is how we build classrooms where students know what success looks like and have the tools to achieve it!

¡Vamos, octavo grado! Look at these 8th graders putting their critical thinking skills to work in Social Studies on Friday!
After learning about the regions of North Carolina, students worked together to examine images, newspapers, and other artifacts. Their challenge? Record what they observed, use those observations to make an inference, and determine which NC region the evidence represented.
Students were using evidence to support their thinking, explaining their reasoning, and collaborating with their classmates. This is exactly what we mean when we say: Think Critically, Talk Intentionally, Write!
Go, 8th grade!

When Friday’s science lab moved more quickly than expected, Ms. Bennett adjusted on the spot and kept the learning moving! She quickly engaged students in a pre-assessment using an engagement routine that created multiple opportunities for ALL students to respond.
Look at this engagement! Students were thinking, responding, and ready to learn!
Go get ’em, 8th grade!

Check out these 7th graders getting after it in PE!
Students took on the Crab Walk Challenge, working together to build their own Rubik’s Cube while trying to strategically sabotage the other teams! On the other side of the gym, teams battled it out in a fast-paced game of Tic-Tac-Toe.
It was all about teamwork, strategy, communication, coordination, and staying active while having a little fun along the way. These activities support our NC PE standards by building movement skills, fitness, cooperation, and responsible decision-making.
Learning, moving, and having fun in PE!
