It's #NationalVolunteerMonth, and UWCFA could not do what it does without our powerful #volunteers.
Thank you to the Board of Directors, the cabinet and committees, agency partner volunteers, and other movers and shakers in the community that contribute their time and talent so we can identify and meet community needs. ❤️

Building trust in our community is a priority at UWCFA. We know every dollar matters, and that is why we have chosen to permanently wave admin fees on donor choice donations (previously referred to as "designations").
Previously, our policies required 9% of your donors choice donation (up to $100) to be reserved for administrative fees. Wednesday, March 23, our Board of Directors voted to dismiss this fee.
This means 100% of your donation goes directly to your chosen nonprofit!
(Donor choice donations are your gifts that are given to specific nonprofits instead of invested in our diverse portfolio of organizations.)

The housing crisis affects more than those experiencing homelessness.
In our four county service area, many renters struggle to find affordable options for their families and more than a quarter of local homeowners express difficulty managing the cost of their current homes. (These averages are taken from the 2019 County Profiles created by the North Carolina Housing Coalition.)
The rising cost of housing disrupts the economy and causes more people to choose between healthy meals and paying rent. Quality, affordable housing helps lift people into stability. With stable shelter many can begin to thrive.
UWCFA raises money to fund programs that that offer emergency assistance with rent, mortgage, and utility payments as well as programs that offer financial literacy and budgeting courses, re-establish or increase household income, and connect people with finding and securing affordable housing.
