The backpacks are packed, the classrooms are getting ready—and so is our B.E. S.M.A.R.T.® programming team! 🎒📚

As Delaware students head back to school, our team is preparing to return to classrooms across the state to provide critical child safety and prevention education to students from Pre-K through 8th grade.

DID YOU KNOW: B.E. S.M.A.R.T.® is Delaware’s only evidence-informed, in-person, school-based prevention program designed to grow and mature with children as they develop. 💙

Because keeping children safe starts with giving them the knowledge, skills, and confidence to recognize unsafe situations and speak up.

A major conversation about children’s safety online is unfolding right now—and parents, caregivers, and anyone who works with children should be paying attention.
Opening arguments began today in a case brought by the attorneys general of California, Colorado, Kentucky, and our neighbor, New Jersey, involving allegations that Meta’s Facebook and Instagram platforms were designed in ways that can be addictive to young users and that the company failed to adequately protect children’s privacy.

In the days ahead, the trial is expected to examine allegations surrounding how these platforms were developed, how young people interact with them, and the collection and use of children’s personal data—including allegations involving the federal Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

These issues matter because what happens online can have very real consequences for children offline.

As parents and caregivers, we need to understand how social media platforms can affect children, what risks they may face, and what companies are—and are not—doing to protect them.

Delaware is part of this larger conversation, too. Attorney General Kathleen Jennings has joined Delaware with other states involved in efforts to address concerns about children’s safety and privacy online.

We owe it to our children to stay informed, ask questions, and advocate for safer digital spaces.

Follow along as this trial unfolds—and take the opportunity to learn more about how we can help protect children from harm, both online and off:

Today, PCAD's Director of Advancement & Communications, Dan Sanchez, was thrilled to join our friends from the Camden-Wyoming Rotary Club and their Satellite Club at Noble's Pond for a special check presentation of $1,920.00. These funds were raised by residents and Rotarians through the sale of our Pinwheels of Possibility earlier this year.

We thank these notable Rotarians for their generous support in helping children and families thrive, and we look forward to continue working with these fine folks in protecting children together.
