#NHCgov Fire Rescue earns first Accredited Agency status
New Hanover County Fire Rescue (NHCFR) received its first Accredited Agency status with the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI), one of only 300 agencies to earn international accreditation with both the CFAI and the Center for Public Safety Excellence. Today, the team at Port City United got the chance to shine a light on something very important – literally. PCU's partnership with Duke Energy and City of Wilmington, NC Government has led to four new streetlights being installed on a street that previously had none. Process Improvements for HHS Mailroom - Best in Category, NACo 2021 Awards
The #NHCgov Health & Human Services mailroom handles over 1,000 pieces of mail each week, with time-sensitive and confidential documents. The Office of Strategy and HHS teams worked together on an innovative process improvement last year that ensured fast and efficient mail delivery, typically within one and a half hours of receipt, that earned a Best in Category award for County Administration and Management in the 2021 National Association of Counties Achievement Awards. Wilmington Massacre and Coup d’état of 1898 Story Map - NACo 2021 Awards
New Hanover County’s Cape Fear Museum won a 2021 Achievement Award in Arts, Culture and Historic Preservation by the National Association of Counties for their work on the 1898 Story Map. The virtual, interactive map tells the story of the 1898 Wilmington Massacre and Coup d’etat, to help the community understand the history and impacts of 1898.
