's Office of Diversity & Equity is proud to join in the effort with New Hanover County Schools and the City of Wilmington, NC Government to host a legacy graduation for the Williston Senior High School classes of 1969 & 1970. NHCS, the City of Wilmington, NC Government, and New Hanover County Government, NC are partnering to host a legacy graduation ceremony for Williston Senior High School classes of 1969 and 1970 on July 1, 2023.

The ceremony will be held at the Williston Middle School Gymnasium. It is an opportunity for those alumni to participate in a graduation ceremony that was denied to them over 55 years ago.

Work is underway on the county’s Hanover Pines Nature Park, located on Carolina Beach Road! Starting on Monday, March 6 at 7 pm, construction of the turning lane coming into the new park will begin. A short section of one northbound lane will be closed in the 6100 block of Carolina Beach Road (across from the Exxon Gas Station and Fish Bites).

The closure will occur nightly between 7 pm - 6 am through March 23. Minimal traffic impacts are expected, but drivers should be aware when traveling through this area.

This new passive park is expected to be completed this October. Learn more at Parks.NHCgov.com
