A NEW TRADITION OF SERVICE 🇺🇸

The City of Wilmore is proud to announce the formation of the Wilmore Joint Agency Honor Guard—a collaboration between the Wilmore Fire Department and Wilmore Police Department.

Bringing together members of both agencies, the Joint Agency Honor Guard will represent the City of Wilmore at times when honor, dignity, and respect matter most. The team will serve at funerals, memorial services, ceremonies, civic events, and other occasions where our community and public safety family come together.

This collaboration reflects something bigger than either agency alone: a shared commitment to serve, protect, and honor our community and those who have dedicated their lives to doing the same.

We are proud to stand together.

Officer Toms serves as the School Resource Officer at Wilmore Elementary School, where he plays an important role in building positive relationships with students and helping create a safe, supportive school environment.

He truly loves what he does, and it shows in the way he connects with and encourages the students each day. We are incredibly proud to have Officer Toms represent the Wilmore Police Department and serve as a positive role model while helping shape the minds and futures of our community’s children.

ROAD CLOSURE for Thursday Night Market

East Main St. will be closed this Thursday, August 20, beginning at 4:00 pm to allow the vendors participating in the Night Market event to set up.

The event begins at 6:00 pm and lasts until 8:00 pm.

East Main will be closed between N. Maple St. and Rice St. Access to East Main from all connecting side streets and alleys in the area will be also closed.

Detour signs will be in place to direct you around the area of the closure.

Parking will be available at the Granary, located on E. Main St. near the railroad crossing.

Parking is also available on the side streets in the area. DO NOT park in a fire lane or any area marked “No Parking.”

On Tuesday August 11, 2026, at the Kentucky Association of Chiefs of Police (KACP) Conference in Lexington, the Wilmore Police Department received it's certificate for the agency's sixth state accreditation.

The KACP Police Accreditation Program is intended to provide law enforcement agencies of the Commonwealth with an avenue for demonstrating that they meet commonly accepted professional standards for efficient and effective operations.

The accreditation process includes: policy review and implementation; obtaining and maintaining specific safety and investigative equipment; a review of personnel, training, and other department records; and an onsite inspection at the agency.

This was a team effort. Special thanks to Administrative Assistant Bethany Parsons, Sgt. John Grevious, and Chief Nelson Shrout who all worked diligently to achieve this goal.

The City of Wilmore's Parking Appeals Hearing Board is now in place and had their first meeting this afternoon.

The members of the Board requested that the public be made aware of the reasons an officer may issue a parking violation and how to submit an appeal request for a parking citation.

Parking violations that an officer may issue a parking citation for include, but are not limited to:

- Handicap Parking Only
- Parking Against the Flow Of Traffic or Line
- Blocking An Intersection
- Parking In A Fire Lane
- Parking In A No Parking Zone
- Double Parking
- Parking On A Yellow Line
- Blocking A Fire Hydrant
- Commercial Vehicle Parked In A Residential Area
- Parking On A Parade Route
- Parking In Designated Parking Spaces Where Official Signs Prohibit Parking

Citizens who receive a parking citation may submit an appeal in writing within seven (7) days of the date the parking citation was issued. Failure to pay the fine or appeal the parking citation within those seven (7) days will result in the amount of the fine being doubled and you will no longer be able to submit an appeal.

Appeals may be delivered in person to the Wilmore Police Department -or- submitted by email at [email protected] . Once the appeal request is received, it will be forwarded to the Parking Appeals Hearing Board for consideration. The Board's chairperson will reach out to the person making the appeal regarding a hearing as soon as possible after it is received.
