I want to wish everyone a Happy Memorial Day!

Today is a day in which we honor those that made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. I’m sure they wouldn’t have wanted us to spend today sullen in their memories but would instead want us to make the most of their sacrifice by living fully, surrounded by loved ones.

As a former Medevac pilot doing my part to save injured soldiers on the battlefields of Afghanistan, I know first hand that not all made it home. And some, like one pictured below and standing next to me, made it home but didn’t survive their own battles. I think of him often. If you struggle with the aftermath of battle, please call someone or the Veteran’s Crisis Hotline by dialing 988.

Today, I will honor their sacrifice. Please join me in remembering them by living with intention and love.

Today was a fantastic day! 🛫 Thank you so much to those of you who chatted with me in the middle of your Sunday. I am really excited about the momentum here in District 1, and I hope I can earn your vote in the 74 days we have between now and Election Day on August 6th. 🗳

Happy Mother’s Day neighbors!
But a special Mother’s Day to mine. She taught me resilience, patience, and kindness in an unpredictable world of deployments and moving around the world. I’ll never forget voting together for the first time when she became an American citizen. People tell me she still has the German accent, but I can’t really hear it. 😂

I look forward to seeing her next beautiful quilt project. She’s very talented. Love you mom!
