🩷💙A word of thanks💙🩷

Our Community Baby Shower brought out many families, partners, and community members, and we are grateful to everyone who visited with our vendors, learned about available resources, and helped make the day special.

A big thank you to our amazing vendors for sharing your time, services, and information with families. Thank you to our awesome staff for the planning, teamwork, and energy that helped bring everything together.

We also want to thank our patients for their patience today, whether you participated in the event or were here for other services. Your understanding was truly appreciated.

Today was a beautiful reminder of what happens when Wilson County comes together for families, babies, and the health of our community.

May has been a month of major achievements for the Wilson County Health Department!

On May 1, 2026, we were awarded Accreditation with Honors. This recognition reflects the hard work, preparation, and ongoing commitment required to meet and exceed North Carolina’s Local Health Department Accreditation standards. Accreditation is not a one-time accomplishment. It is a continuous process that helps local health departments assess, maintain, and advance the quality of public health services for the communities they serve. This achievement is also shared with our Wilson County Board of Health, whose leadership and continued support help guide our work and strengthen public health.

Then, on May 13, we were honored to receive the William “Bill” Smith Outstanding Public Health Award at the Eastern District North Carolina Public Health Association Annual Education Conference. This recognition highlights WCHD’s community-driven work to expand access without barriers through harm reduction, overdose prevention, mobile outreach, and strong community partnerships across Wilson County.

We are proud of these accomplishments and grateful for the dedicated staff, partners, and community members who help move public health forward in Wilson County.
