We are honored to host a Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser in support of our former member and great friend, Al Thompson.

For a $10 donation, you'll receive a generous plate of homemade spaghetti and garlic bread. More importantly, your support will go directly toward helping Al Thompson.

As many of you may have read from one of our recent post or from his outstanding support from the community, our brother Al Thompson is fighting brain cancer, Al will never back down from a challenge, with this challenge comes a huge financial burden. In attempt to help with this, there will be a softball tournament fundraiser held at Toisnot Park in Wilson on October 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. All proceeds goes to help Al and his family. Yesterday we had the honor of surprising Al at his rehabilitation facility when Nash County EMS brought him home from ECU Health. If you dont know, Al served at Silver Lake Fire Department for over 24 years, even serving as captain during his time and still serves the citizens of Nash County to this day working for Nash County EMS. Al was recently diagnosed with an aggressive brain cancer after a tumor was found. He recently had a successful surgery to remove the tumor and was moved to his rehabilitation facility to start the recovery phase. Silver Lake was proud and honored to be one of the many agencies awaiting his arrival. Al has always put others first and now it’s time everyone returns the favor. Please keep Al and his family in your continued thoughts and prayers during this time. We are always here for you brother! You got this!

Please say a prayer for our brother and his family today!

Today, we ask our Nash EMS family and community to keep one of our own in your thoughts and prayers.

Our brother, Al, has recently been diagnosed with glioblastoma, a very aggressive form of brain cancer. As an Advanced EMT, Al has spent years serving the citizens of Nash County with compassion, dedication, and professionalism, always answering the call when others needed help.

Now, Al faces a fight of his own.

Please join us in praying for strength, comfort, healing, and peace for Al and his family in the days ahead. We are grateful for the support of our community and know that together we can surround him with the same care and encouragement he has given so many others.

🚒 Join Us for a Special Fire Engine Dedication Ceremony! 🚒

The members of Silver Lake Fire Department are proud to invite our community to the dedication of our new fire Engine 97 this Sunday, June 7th at 2:00 PM at the fire station.

This new apparatus represents our continued commitment to protecting and serving our community with the best equipment available. We are excited to celebrate this important milestone with the residents, families, and supporters who make our department strong.

As part of the ceremony, we will honor a long-standing fire service tradition known as the "push-in." In the days of horse-drawn fire apparatus, firefighters would manually push their engines back into the station after returning from a call because horses could not easily back the equipment into the bay. Today, departments across the country continue this tradition during apparatus dedications as a symbol of pride, teamwork, and respect for the generations of firefighters who came before us.

Following the dedication, attendees will have an opportunity to view the new engine, meet our firefighters, and learn more about the equipment that helps us serve our community every day.

We hope you'll join us as we celebrate this exciting addition to our fleet and continue a proud fire service tradition.

🚨PSA🔥 With the much needed rain, as of tomorrow morning (Sunday, May 3rd @ 8 a.m.) the N.C. Forest Service has lifted the Burn Ban for 81 counties, with Wilson and Nash being two of those 81. Open burning is now allowed with permit. With this being said please be mindful of conditions when burning, drier weather and winds could put us back into the high fire danger category. We are hosting a CPR demonstration event May 13th at 7pm at our fire station. This a free event for anyone. We welcome you to come out and learn the basics on how to give critical life saving measures to someone in need until we (first responders) or EMS can get there. Even if you don’t have any medical knowledge this will teach the basics. This is not a class for the CPR certification. Please bring a friend and share this post to get the word out to the community! Thank you!
