Week in review!

-This past week we celebrated Officer Sylvie Fils & Police Service Aide Winnie Bramwell as our Officer of the 1st Quarter and Professional of the 1st Quarter. These ladies were recognized at our commission meeting for their hard work and dedication to serving the public. Congratulations Officer Fils and PSA Bramwell!

-Chief Blocker, along with other members of our department joined neighboring law enforcement agencies to share a message regarding illegal street takeovers. This meeting took place at the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, and we thank them for coordinating this important message. The Wilton Manors Police Department takes this topic extremely seriously. With the upcoming holiday, we will have extra patrols in the city, and we’re prepared to hold any aggressive/reckless drivers responsible.

-The Wilton Manors Police Department, along with our friends at the Fort Lauderdale Police Department participated in Career Day at one of our schools in the city. Horses, K-9 dogs, police cars, drones, Westway Towing trucks & more. There were lots of smiles at this event! Thank you Somerset Academy!

National Police Week is observed each May to honor the service and sacrifice of law enforcement officers across the United States. It serves as a time to remember those who have lost their lives in the line of duty and to appreciate & support the officers that continue to serve and protect us every day.

The Wilton Manors Police Department proudly recognizes our WMPD police officers, as well as our law enforcement brothers & sisters across the nation.

Greetings Island City Community, Having received some inquiries about this program since our initial social media posts and program letters mailed to security alarm users, we provide this information as a friendly reminder about this program, its standards, the benefits to public safety, and our webpage that provides information to assist alarm users. Thank you!!!

Our City has reinstituted our False Alarm Reduction Program designed to enhance public safety, improve police response efficiency, and reduce unnecessary calls for service caused by false alarms. This program, facilitated by our authorized partner, Alarm Program Systems, LLC, promotes responsible alarm system use by requiring registration of alarm systems, encouraging proper maintenance, and establishing accountability measures for repeated false activations. All alarm users within the City are required to register their alarm systems (see below exemption). Alarm registrations should be submitted as required by ordinance with fines for failure to register, false alarms and other violations taking effect May 15, 2026. For full program details regarding registration requirements, program guidelines, applicable fees/fines, and to register your alarm, please visit the City’s False Alarm Reduction Program webpage by clicking here... https://qrco.de/bdqVSU

We appreciate your cooperation and continued partnership in helping us improve the quality of life in our community. Together, we are making our Island City safer than it was the day before.
Registration Exemption: Self-monitored alarm systems are exempt from permit requirements unless one (1) false alarm occurs at the property where the alarm is installed. Should one (1) false alarm occur that prompts a police response at a property of this nature, the exemption is forfeited indefinitely, and the requirements of this Chapter shall apply to the alarm user. Self-monitored alarm system shall mean an alarm system that is managed and monitored by a property owner or alarm user without the involvement of an alarm company.
