This is what mutual aid is for and we are happy to help.

On Saturday, March 28, 2026, at approximately 6:12hrs (6:12am), the Phillips Fire Department, along with mutual aid partners, responded to a reported structure fire at 80 Wheeler Hill Road in Phillips.

Upon arrival, crews found a single-wide wood-frame structure home with multiple additions, showing heavy smoke and flames through the roof. Car 100, staffed by Chief Allen, arrived on scene within 10 minutes of tone and established command.

Engine 15 was directed to lay a supply line from the roadway up the driveway and initiate a transitional fire attack, applying water from the exterior to knock down the main body of fire. Tanker 14 established a water supply to support suppression efforts. Tanker 14 and other incoming Tankers were assigned a Tanker route of Wheeler Hill, Parlin Rd, Salem Rd, Fill Site at 138 Park St. Fill Site operations were assigned to Wilton Engine 1

As additional personnel arrived, crews transitioned to an interior attack and worked to bring the fire under control.

Phillips Fire responded with Car 100, Engine 15, Tanker 14, Rescue 13, and Attack 12, totaling 9 personnel. Mutual aid assistance was provided by Strong Fire, Farmington Fire, Weld Fire, Kingfield Fire, Rangeley Fire, Wilton Fire (RIT), Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, MaineHealth EMS, Franklin County RCC, and Central Maine Power. Approximately 30 first responders were on scene.

The Phillips Fire Department would like to thank all mutual aid partners for their assistance and continued support.

As always. If you need us, we will be there.

Sunday March 22, 2026 at approximately 5:35 pm Wilton Fire was toned along with mutual aid for a report of a possible structure fire at 104 Village View in Wilton. Dispatch reported there were ashes dumped outside and now has caught the side of the building on fire.

Chief Sonny Dunham copied the call and went enroute.

Shortly behind Chief Ladder 7 went enroute with operator FF/Andrew Cote and staffed with Deputy Chief Mike Lilley, FF Brian Young, FF/AEMT Ellie Adams and Junior FF Kameron Dunham.

Tanker One went enroute with Operator Lt. Cody Blodgett and staffed with Senior Captain George Guptil.

Squad One was also enroute with Captain Justin Lowe.

Prior to arrival of crews it was reported there was no active fire.

Chief Sonny Dunham cancelled mutual aid.

Crews arrived on scene and went to work by using the thermal imaging camera to make sure there were no active hotspots remaining in the wall. They reported back to Chief the wall was all set.

Although this was a close call Wilton Fire would like to remind the public exercise caution when disposing of hot coals. Use a container specifically designed for high temperatures and ensure that ash or wood-stove contents are deposited far from structures or flammable materials.

This early afternoon at approximately 11:02 am Wilton Fire along with mutual aid got toned for a reported structure fire at the intersection of depot and US R 2.

Chief Sonny Dunham copied the call and went enroute. Upon arrival of the scene chief reported the structure to be fully involved. Chief reported the updated address to be Pine St.

Shortly after Chief, Ladder 7 went enroute with Operator Senior Captain George Guptil and Deputy Chief Mike Lilley. Pulling in right behind Ladder 7 was Engine One. Staffed with Operator Lt. Cody Blodgett and FF/AEMT Ellie Adams.

Crews immediately went to work with pulling lines from trucks and getting water on the fire from a defensive position.

Due to heavy fire and the structure being unstable crews were operating in a defensive attack making the hard decision to not do an initial search of the building. While knocking down heavy fire it was reported to crews nobody was home. It was also reported that there were household animals, a dog and cat. As well as chickens in the barn. Crews did their best to save the chickens unfortunately the dog and cat were not recovered.

Although in the fire world this fire is deemed a total loss crews did their best to successfully put the fire out and protect exposures. Redcross is involved to help with anything the family needs.

Shelly's Hometown Market has made a post with a list of items the family is looking for. If you are able to donate in anyway please reach out on her post.

Thank you to all mutual aid departments who came to help.

This past weekend Wilton Fire was doing their monthly truck checks and training!

With a small glimpse of warm weather and the sun shining through the bay doors, Wilton Fire decided to keep the theme with training. This months training was Ropes and Rescue.

This was a refresher/ introduction to ropes and rescue. This training included; going over what equipement we have for rescue, what’s in our back country rescue bags, what ropes and how much we have, along with what systems are preset and what they are used for, equipment we have for downed victim, and lastly life safety knots.

Another Sunday morning where Wilton Fire is up and after it!

This Sunday along with truck checks, we had our annual ice rescue refresher. This training involves; inspecting suits to ensure they are up to standards, firefighters getting into suits rated for cold temperature water, practicing using ropes and knots, refreshing on how to get a downed victim out of the water and onto shore with equipment kept on trucks. As well as a refresher on the signs and symptoms of hypothermia and how we would start treatment.

A quick reminder for the public! Please use your best judgment on if you should be on the ice, especially with motorized toys. We do these trainings to ensure that we are ready for when the call comes in… but we would like everyone to remain safe and above water and ice!!
