This weekend, our scouts were tourists in the great outdoors. Working on backcountry camping and cooking skills, the boys carried their full gear (including cooking supplies and water), prepared gourmet camp meals, practiced trail navigation, and still had time for scout-led games. Before departing, the troop participated in a conservation project by planting gum trees at Weir Farm National Historical Park.

Did you catch our scouts on the Today Show this weekend? Troop 125 visited the set as part of our annual urban campout adventure. Scouts got to go into the control room and see the set before embarking on a full NYC day: touring a construction site, visiting the 9/11 memorial, and of course eating β€” a lot.

The cold did not stop T125 from taking second place πŸ† overall at today's Connecticut Yankee Council, Scouts of the Revolution Klondike Derby. Scouts got to travel back in time to the winter of 1776 and experience life as a Continental Army soldier during the fight for American independence. Tasked with surviving the cold, T125 tested our strength, skills, and teamwork by hauling gear, building fire and shelter, carrying messages, and navigating unfamiliar terrain (with a break for hot chocolate).
