Rotary Club of Wimberley contributes toward backpacks of school supplies and free books for community school children on Aug 8, 2026, at Barnabas Back to School Fiesta.

Wimberley Rotarians met at the library Thursday morning to load and transfer boxes of labeled books to the Barnabas Connection headquarters. Once unloaded, the Rotary table was set up for the Back to School Fiesta on Saturday, Aug 8, where backpacks of school supplies will be given to the registered community families. Wimberley Rotarians will also give every child a quality book to take home.

Wimberley Rotarians labeled books on Tuesday July 28 for the upcoming Back to School Fiesta on August 8. Each community child who registered will get a back pack of school supplies, and the opportunity for a free book from the Rotary Club of Wimberley.

President Chris Nichols reports he was able to do some finishing touches on our Rotary’s Book Nook on the grounds of EmilyAnne Theater. This included: installing the brochure holder that Stanley purchased, moving the smaller brass Rotary sign nearer the door, and attaching the larger gold & white Rotary sign on the other side of the window. Well done! Can’t help but notice that the bookshelves need restocking with gently used children, youth, and adult books. Anyone want to take on a book collection drive? There are still a few inside the building, but inventory is running low.

Note: It’s located near the pickle ball courts, if you want to donate books.

The evening of July 18 was full of fun, friendship, and great food as Rotarian Dale Roberson hosted a gathering of family and friends to celebrate his 89th birthday. He even was treated to a video chat with Ermias from Ethiopia!

The induction ceremony for President Chris Nichols and his officers was held on July 14, 2026 at the noon meeting at the library. Along with Nichols, Membership Chair/ President Elect Gregory Ross, Secretary Iris Campbell, and Grant Foundation Chair Aileen Edgington were also sworn in. Not present were Treasurer Carolyn Manning and Foundation Elect Chair Tricia Gangstad. Nichols gave an overview of the Service Projects for last year. Also present was new member Sue Mulvaney, a transferring 18 year Rotarian from Rockford, Illinois and Taos, New Mexico. The next meeting will be July 28, and we’ll be labeling books for the Back to School Fiesta. Meanwhile, all those who intend to assist with the backpack of school supplies and book giveaways at the August 8 Fiesta need to fill out and submit a volunteer criminal background check form on the Barnabas Connection website.
