The "heart" of our light, is a First Order Fresnel, made in 1890 from Barbier & Cie, Paris, France. It has 616 handcut prisms,with 24 bulls-eyes, with 8 covered with molten red glass panes. It weighs 2 Tons, and is 9' 2" tall x 6' 4: in diameter. Its 2,250,000+ candlepower is visible for 20 miles out to sea. It is one of two operating in the world, and the only lens you can enter from beneath. The Umpqua River Light is known for its distinct red and white signature.
