Our crew joined the community for National Night Out — a yearly event that brings together local first responders and organizations to connect with families. 🚓🚑🚒⚓

We had a great time meeting everyone, giving tours of our RBS 29128, and playing games with the kids. It’s always an honor to represent the U.S. Coast Guard alongside our fellow first responders, and we’re grateful for the chance to share what we do to keep our community safe.

Happy 235th Birthday, Coast Guard!!

Today we celebrate 235 years of dedication, service, and protecting our nation’s waters. A special thank-you to the Oregon Douglas County Board of Commissioners for hosting us for this year’s Coast Guard Proclamation reading. The event included the reading of the official 2025 Coast Guard Birthday Proclamation and a moment to reflect on our proud history.

From 1790 to today, Coast Guard members have stood the watch — safeguarding our coasts, saving lives, and serving with honor, respect, and devotion to duty. Here’s to the men and women past, present, and future who make the Coast Guard Semper Paratus. 💙⚓️

ATTENTION TO AWARD

Congratulations to MK2 Jake Herrell for earning a Letter of Commendation due to his performance of duty on 08 September, 2024.

On this date, the Station got a call of a Vessel taking on water with 10 adults on board outside of the Umpqua River Bar.

Once the MLB 47208 got on scene with the struggling vessel, they determined the source of the flooding, and passed a P-6 pump to the crew.

The Vessels crew was unable to get the pump started, so MK2 Herrell was passed onto their vessel and successfully started the P-6 and achieved suction.

The MLB 47208 put the Vessel into a tow and made way across the bar, keeping MK2 on board to ensure he is able to restart the pump if needed.

MK2 showed an outstanding performance of duty and was able to use his skills to get all 10 persons back safely.
