It's here! Today is the day to visit the Little Red School House for our final open house of the season!

Stop by anytime between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM at the corner of Platt Hill Road and Taylor Brook Road in Wi******er Center, Connecticut, and step inside this remarkable piece of our town's history.

Built in 1815 and lovingly restored in 2018, our Little Red School House is Wi******er's only remaining one-room schoolhouse—a living testament to how education and community came together in the 19th and early 20th centuries.

Today is extra special! We're celebrating alongside the Wi******er Historical Association's opening of the Chapel, and we're thrilled to unveil "The Schools of Wi******er," a display we've been creating for nearly a year. It's our way of honoring all the wonderful donors and supporters who make our mission possible.

Step back in time and experience a cherished piece of our town’s history on Saturday, Sept. 26th, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, as the Little Red Schoolhouse Association hosts our final open house of the season.

Erected in 1815 and meticulously restored in 2018, the Little Red School House stands as the sole surviving one-room school in Wi******er, CT. It offers a rare, evocative window into the 19th and early 20th centuries, when community life centered around these humble schoolhouses and children in grades one through eight were educated together in a single room under the watchful eye of one teacher.

This Open House is held in conjunction with the Wi******er Historical Association’s opening of the Chapel. In addition, we hope to unveil our new exhibit, "The Schools of Wi******er"—a project nearly a year in the making, presented in heartfelt tribute to the generous donors and supporters whose dedication preserves our community’s historical legacy.

Join us for our final open house of the season! The LRSHA invites you and your family to visit the Little Red School House on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Located at the corner of Platt Hill Road and Taylor Brook Road in Wi******er Center, Connecticut, this historic landmark was built in 1815, restored in 2018, and stands as the only remaining one-room schoolhouse in Wi******er, CT.

Step inside to experience a piece of local history from the 19th and early 20th centuries, when students in grades one through eight were taught together in a single classroom by one teacher.

This open house is particularly special, as we are partnering with our friends at the Wi******er Historical Association in conjunction with their opening of the Chapel. We are also hoping to unveil our new display, "The Schools of Wi******er," which has been nearly a year in the making and serves as our heartfelt thank-you to the wonderful donors and supporters who help us fulfill our mission.
