Jefferson County Road and Bridge is putting new asphalt down on Wellman road starting at Poplar street moving South. Please take caution when driving through the work zone and be patient with the workers.

Ok folks what part of trees, tree limbs and leaves do we not understand. The burn pile only been open one week. We are already finding illegal dumping at the site. We have found trash, plastics and sheet metal. If the illegal dumping does not stop we will close the site permanently.

As of today, April 14th, 2026, the city has designated an area for Wi******er residents to drop off brush, limbs, trees, and leaves for city-orchestrated burning. The designated site is located at the sewer lagoons. The facility operates from Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Please note that individuals found engaging in unauthorized dumping will be subject to prosecution.

SCAM ALERT

It has been reported that a door to door salesman has been going around town contacting residents. He is saying Evergy power company will be moving power line underground and each house will have solar panels installed and receive one free year of electricity. We have contacted Evergy and learned this is a scam. If the individual comes to your house please call city hall or dispatch at 785-863-2351.
