What better way to wrap up than by celebrating our newest published authors! Heidi, Karen, Rocio, and Rufina each had an original essay featured in the latest issue of Spotlight, a publication celebrating adult education writers. Their success reflects their hard work in Creative Writing class, and to the thoughtful guidance of their instructor, Dave.

An extra special shoutout goes to Heidi, who also had a second piece selected for The Change Agent! Having your writing shared on a national stage is an extraordinary milestone. Please join us in congratulating our amazing students! 🎉

We are exceedingly proud of Brasilia who came to us in February seeking help with her resume and an opportunity to practice her “soft skills” in an office setting. She worked with a tutor on these goals, and with our front desk team in the office. Since then, she's secured a job and kept on with us as an assistant instructor. In a short time, Brasilia has taken command of her life and now thrives.

Kalpana has been studying English with us since this past spring and has shown a great commitment to her studies. Having reached a point that she felt more comfortable with her fluency, and wanting to give back to the program, she has begun volunteering after her classes. She’s been a wonderful help in the library, with our summer meal distribution, and writing thank-you notes for LVWA. We're proud of her progress and grateful for the help!

We are bursting with pride for this incredible mother-and-son duo who both passed their U.S. Citizenship exams! Passing the citizenship exam is a major milestone that opens up new doors for security, opportunity, and full civic participation.

With today being , their accomplishment is even more special as they take their first steps toward exercising their right to vote. Please join us in giving Satchella and Bryan a huge round of applause!

Thank you, Paulette, for your thoughtful words about LVWA and the students who are the heart of our mission. Thank you also for highlighting Edward Shuck's words; we are privileged that we could act as a vehicle for his journey and amplify his voice.

In recognition of Adult Education and Family Literacy Week, September 13-19, I would like to remind readers of the important work of Literacy Volunteers Wi******er.

When we first met Benjamin and his mom last September, he had just arrived from Cameroon with limited English skills. Since then, he has flourished in our English classes. Earning a driver's license and starting a new job are major milestones, and we couldn't be prouder of his dedication and growth.

It's National Adult Education and Family Literacy Week! This week we'll be celebrating the determination, resilience, and success of adult learners in our community. Adult education opens doors to better jobs, stronger families, and brighter futures. LVWA is proud to be part of that journey.
