[1230PM] ⚠️ Heads up! A line of strong/severe storms is forecast just before midnight tonight continuing eastward over the area through the overnight hours/early Wednesday morning (11PM-6AM). We are also monitoring the potential for a few severe storms that could develop earlier this evening over NW AL (between 8-10PM). Damaging winds, hail, and tornadoes are the primary threats this evening through Tuesday morning.

There is a low chance of severe storms once again for all of north Alabama and southern middle Tennessee Tuesday evening and into the overnight hours. Damaging winds, hail, and tornadoes are the main threats with this system as well.

Stay weather aware, have a safety plan, and make sure to have multiple ways to receive warnings (especially ones that will wake you up)!

UPDATE
Our office, Franklin County EMA, and TWRA had to suspend operations last night because of the weather. Operations have resumed this morning to recover the drowned person.

We can release some details about the circumstances of this drowning based on witness statements. A man tied his boat to the dock, then got into his vehicle and trailer. When he backed the trailer into the water, he realized the boat had become untied from the dock. The male attempted to swim after his boat. He was unable to reach his boat and couldn’t swim back to shore. The male went underwater and never reappeared.

We are still actively trying to notify his next of kin and will not release the name of the deceased until they are properly notified.
