The mission of the Jenks Center is to improve the quality of senior's lives through participation in and enjoyment of a wide range of stimulating social, educational, and recreational activities. We work for the benefit of the citizens, community organizations, and the Town of Wi******er, Massachusetts. All Wi******er residents aged 55 and older are automatically members of the Jenks Center, no du

Join us as we welcome back Jane Blair, the founder of ArtMatters, for a tour through the life and works of Monet and Renoir, two of the most beloved of the Impressionist artists. In this presentation she will acquaint us with the relationship between Claude Monet and Pierre-Auguste Renoir. Learn how and why they became fast friends at the very heart of the most radical revolution in art, since the Renaissance. Jane holds a BFA from Boston University and MFA from University of Illinois.

Join our host Andrew Celentano, for an interesting interview with Sharon Chen, an accomplished pianist and composer. She studied violin at the Eastman School of Music and graduated from Harvard with degrees in both Music and East Asian Languages and Civilizations. Learn how she persevered even though she had a serious health problem, where she could have potentially lost some of her hearing. Her songs depict nostalgia and themes of darkness evolving into light. She blends her classical background with different genres including electronic and jazz. You can find her works on my Bandcamp, One World Music Radio, Soundcloud, Spotify Twitter and YouTube. You can find many videos on Facebook featuring her playing. She has over 2.7 million Spotify streams to date.

Watergate at 50 - The Burglary That Changed the World with Professor Daniel Breen

Join Professor Dan Breen, Senior Lecturer in Legal Studies at Brandeis University, and a recipient of the Louis Brandeis Award for Excellence in Teaching, as he tells the story of how a local break-in became a national scandal, and how it profoundly changed the way Americans think about their political institutions. It has been called “The Scandal that Never Goes Away” — and with good reason. Learn how the break-in at the Democratic headquarters at the Watergate Hotel happened and the events that followed, culminating in President Nixon’s resignation in August of 1974. Daniel Breen’s primary academic interests lay in the law and politics of the Early Republic, he also holds a Ph.D. in American History and enjoys lecturing on a wide variety of subjects. Professor Breen is currently working on an article about the secession movement in New England during the Jefferson and Madison administrations.

Virtual: The History of The French Cable Station Museum with Director Joseph Manas

Join Museum Director Joseph Manas as he explores the historic role of the French Cable Station. Learn how the first cable crossed the ocean in 1869 and landed in St. Pierre-Miquelon, a small island complex just south of Newfoundland, owned by France. In 1898 a new direct cable was laid to New York City from here thus completing a link between New York and France. These cables carried important world news to Europe and the United States as well as financial transactions from Paris Bourse and the New York Stock Exchange.
