The mission of the Shenandoah Valley EMS Council is to promote a regional community-based emergency medical services (EMS) network that reduces premature death and disability from acute illness and injury through the coordination of local EMS resources.

The Office of EMS is conducting training on the Virginia EMS Data repository. The training is designed to help agencies better understand how the repository supports EMS data reporting, and how to confidently use its tools to improve data quality and meet reporting requirements.

Each region will host two sessions, offering both in-person and virtual attendance options.

Need more flexibility? The blended HeartSaver First Aid CPR/AED course combines approximately 2 hours of online learning completed at home with a 3-hour in-person skills session. This OSHA compliant course covers first aid, CPR, and AED use for adults, children, and infants. Participants receive the online course, provider book, hands-on training, and a 2-year certification card. Ideal for parents, grandparents, babysitters, volunteers, and employees who prefer less classroom time and already have some basic first aid or CPR knowledge.

Designed for healthcare professionals, this 4-hour American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider course delivers the high-quality hands-on training required in medical settings. Students will learn CPR, AED use, team dynamics, and emergency response skills for adults, children, and infants. Includes a provider manual, hands-on instruction, and a 2-year certification. Great for nurses, CNAs, dental professionals, medical office staff, EMS personnel, students entering healthcare fields, and other licensed professionals.

Already certified and need to renew? The 3.5-hour BLS Renewal course provides updated hands-on training for healthcare professionals who currently hold an unexpired American Heart Association BLS certification. Participants receive a provider manual, skills instruction, and a renewed 2-year certification card. Ideal for nurses, CNAs, dental hygienists, medical office staff, and healthcare providers. A copy of your current unexpired AHA certification must be emailed to the training coordinator after registration to confirm eligibility.

Give young babysitters the skills and confidence they need to succeed. This 9.5-hour course, designed for ages 10–15, combines the HSI Child & Babysitting Safety program with American Heart Association Pediatric First Aid CPR/AED training. Students will learn resume building, childcare business basics, safety skills, interview tips, checklists, and tools for successful babysitting and childcare entrepreneurship. After lunch, participants receive hands-on pediatric first aid and CPR/AED instruction for infants and children with the opportunity to earn a 2-year certification card. Plenty of breaks are included throughout the day, and there is no written exam.
