Do you have old paint cans, Grandma’s couch taking up space in the basement, old electronics, and construction debris from that DIY project you finished last summer? The City’s trash trucks usually cannot pick up this type of waste curbside, and we understand it can create clutter and headaches for our residents.

The City of Wi******er is excited to announce our annual cleanup days! Once a year, each Ward will have its own designated cleanup day to help keep our City beautiful. Cleanup days will occur every three months, moving from one Ward to another. Residents with regular trash service can put out those troublesome items we usually cannot collect curbside on cleanup days and watch their junk be removed—at no extra charge!

In just nine months with the City, Gavin has made a big impact as a Planner on our Community Development Team through his initiative, collaboration, and willingness to take on complex projects. Recently, Gavin helped update the City’s Historic Wi******er District Guidelines, providing clearer information for residents about downtown mural development and installation. He also coordinated efforts to unveil a Historic Plaque honoring the Kurtz Building during National Preservation Month.

Beginning tomorrow, our community will reach a significant milestone: every City Fire and Rescue fire apparatus will be staffed with a minimum of three certified firefighter/EMTs. This marks tremendous progress since 2020, when the Department often responded with only one firefighter/EMT assigned to each vehicle.

This achievement enhances firefighter safety and improves the level of emergency service provided to our residents.

Thank you to our taxpayers and City Council for their continued investment in public safety, and to our Fire and Rescue team for securing a FEMA Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Grant that funded these positions. This is a momentous milestone for both the City and the Department, and one that will directly benefit our community.
