PRESS RELEASE
Wi******er Fire Department Responds to Structure Fire on W. Washington Street
Wi******er Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 100 block of W. Washington Street.
Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy fire coming from the front of the second story of the structure. A deck gun was deployed to quickly knock down the initial fire.

During the incident, firefighters discovered that two individuals were trapped on the second floor. With assistance from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Department, a ladder was deployed to a second-story window, allowing both individuals to safely exit the structure.

Randolph County EMS transported both individuals to a local hospital for evaluation.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office.

Wi******er Fire Department would like to thank the White River Fire Department, Farmland Fire Department, Lynn Fire Department, Randolph County EMS, Randolph County Sheriff’s Department, and Wi******er Police Department for their assistance and support during the incident. As well as many of the departments spouses and family who assisted with hydration and snacks.
