Before the new VA standards get approved, and I revamp them, I went back to my "To Do' folder and found a "Would You Rather" enrichment file. What are your thoughts? I changed some so that the students would respond as the historians basing their answers on facts they have learned for that time, and not actually them being there as the people.
Also, what should I work on next? Math, Science, something else?

Just added it to the bundle! It is very similar to VS.7's format due to the sensitive content.

Have you seen the draft of the 2024-2025 Virginia studies standards?
What are your thoughts on VS.1-VS.13?
Biggest surprise addition - VS.12
Pro - VS.1 is now all Geography, VS.2 is just the Indigenous People
Con - BIG update to the bundle. I know what I will be doing this summer and next year!

Working on a short weekly review the students can get on Monday and do 1-2 math problems and 1-2 VA questions a day for homework and finish on Friday (not for TPT this year, just classroom).
I currently have it as half sheets to be printed 2 sided to save paper.
What are your thoughts? Should the math and VA each be a full page or stay half page?
(Also, if you want them, I think that as I add them, the link will be automatically updated).

2 Fun National Park activities!
A student showed me her family's site today, and I thought I would share! They go to national parks and document their trip, and it is growing as they visit more places. Each video starts with a brief history of the site all narrated by the girls. The Maggie Lena Walker video would give students a lot of background to why she started the bank.

Secondly, we had Ranger Jen come to give a presentation and talk to our 4th graders about the Every Kid Outdoors program for 4th graders and give them plastic "official" cards to enter parks. She said she takes her show on the road. She lives in Loudoun county but would visit nearby counties if you would like the information.

Thank you all for your support! After processing and taking some time, I am going to work on the standards that I have finished to make sure they don't violate the policies (main two for the content were clipart usage and activities). TPT is being mindful....the policy states that there shouldn't be any games or activities related to the traumatic events in history. So, those standards will be more respectful to the material with more straightforward representations.
Virginia studies is my favorite subject to teach, and I would be missing something if I stopped creating for the subject.
For the sale tomorrow, I am going to post only the VS.2 items so that I can take next week or 2 to carefully go through the VS.3 and VS.4 before posting. I am going to post the VS.2 individually and as a start of a NEW bundle that will include ALL the new items I will be posting and take the place of the current bundle. It will be the lowest price at under $20 for the sale. (not sure the exact with the TPT discount). I was going to post the 2020 revisions in a new bundle anyway since they are redone, not just adjusted for small changes, and offer an extension to those that had the older one, but tomorrow's sale price will be the cheapest.
Some have asked, and I don't know the answer, as to whether the removed items will be still available, and I am not sure what they will do with the old bundle, so I didn't want to chance them taking it down as well.
This new bundle will be good for revisions up to 2030.
I hope this makes sense. Ultimately, I have always wanted to help make the curriculum easier for the students to understand and for teachers to implement. That has brought me joy and I didn't want to give up on that.
