Our Grammy and Grampy would feed Dr. King on weekends while he was a grad student at BU. He also was student minister at Twelfth Baptist, our family church.

This photo depicts our head minister, Rev Dr Michael E Haynes (left) of Twelfth Baptist, on the occasion of MLK coming back to Massachusetts to give a speech to the Massachusetts Senate and House of Representatives.

Our Uncle Danny was a teenager in BYF and they raised money for his movement. Because of our family familiarity with Dr King, Uncle Danny was asked to present the check of money they raised.

This photograph always hung on our grandparents’ wall in their Roxbury home—a daily reminder of faith, service, and the legacy of standing on the right side of history. We deeply appreciate the significance of this moment and the generations it continues to inspire.
