Imagine seeing a medical emergency on the side of the road. Would you be prepared to stop and help? That's just what SGT Leann Roggensack did when she helped a woman that had just given birth. SGT Roggensack was able to comfort and assist the new mother and baby in the pouring rain while they waited for EMTs to arrive. Learn to be prepared to help those that need you: 404-309-0927

“The National Guard showed me what a true brotherhood is. I cannot begin to describe the experience I went through during BCT and AIT with my brother beside me the whole way. I’ll remember this forever. I’m loving getting to serve my country and community. The possibilities have opened up so much after joining. I’m a 94F and loved my training. Definitely don’t regret signing that contract.” - PV2 Jake Boyce

“The National Guard looked like a good option since I could go to a physical school full-time and have my tuition covered, while still starting my military career. Basic training and Ranger school were really challenging, but I loved every moment I was there. Those were some of the best times I’ve had in my life, and I can’t see myself wanting to work outside of the military now.” - SPC Connor McGuffee

I beat the odds.

I was born to a teenage parent. The statistical chance of becoming a teenage parent myself was high, as well as a lower IQ and academic achievement, and being socioeconomically disadvantaged. My parents tried but between their battles of drug/alcohol abuse, mental illness, and domestic issues inside my home, I left at the age of 16. I became emancipated at 17 and barely graduated high school.

Then one day, I decided to bank on someone else, and I committed to the National Guard. The committed to me. All the leaders I came across had invested in my success and pushed me to be better. Better for my family, my community, my organization, and my country.

They allowed me so many different opportunities from being a combat medic to reclassify as journalist.

It only seems fair at this point to thank the National Guard and all the leaders who stood behind me, encouraging me, and motivating me.

I obtained my bachelors in communications. I graduated college.

Thank you, National Guard

“What drew me to the National Guard was my strong desire to serve especially the ability to support communities during domestic emergencies. When you watch the news and hear of these unexpected natural disasters, and most recently, this pandemic, I couldn’t see myself showing up and offering to help very easily as a civilian. However, as a soldier, it’s much easier to be part of that ‘boots on the ground’ effort and help, which is important to me.” – SPC Jaskiranjeet (Jessica) Sodhi

I Am The Guard

Civilian in Peace, Soldier in War...of security and honor for three centuries I have been the custodian...I am the Guard! At Concord's bridge, I fired the fateful shot heard 'round the world. I bled on Bunker Hill. My footprints marked the snows at Valley Forge. With Washington on the heights of Yorktown, I saw the sword surrendered... I am the Guard. These things I know - I was there! I saw both sides of the War Between the States - I was there! The hill at San Juan felt the fury of my charge; the far plains and mountains of the Philippines echoed to my shout. In France the dark forests of the Argonne blazed with my barrage; Chateau-Thierry crumbled to my cannonade. I am the Guard. I bowed briefly on the grim road at Bataan. Through the jungles and on the beaches I fought the enemy... beat, battered, and broke him. I scrambled over Normandy's beaches - I was there! I flew MiG Alley to the Yalu - I am the Guard! I fought in the skies above Vietnam - I was there! In the skies and on the ground, I made the Arabian desert feel the fury of the storm. I am the Guard! Civilian in peace, soldier in war... the stricken have known the comfort of my skill. I have faced forward to the tornado, the typhoon, and the horror of the hurricane and the flood. I saw the tall towers fall - I was there! I am the Guard. For three centuries the custodian of security and honor, now and forever... I am the Guard.
