Power Evans Winder City Councilmember for Ward 3

12/03/2025

Good evening friends and neighbors,

After a lot of reflection, I’ve decided to step back from my campaign for Barrow County Commissioner. This wasn’t an easy decision, because serving the people of Winder on the City Council has truly been one of the greatest honors of my life. I’m deeply grateful for every word of encouragement, every blessing, and every bit of support you’ve shared with me along the way.

As I look ahead, I’m entering a new and very special chapter with Winter as we plan our wedding and build our future together. I want to give that season of life the attention and care it deserves. At the same time, I’m committed to the career I’ve worked hard to build. Recent events have reminded me just how important it is to protect that path and stay focused on the opportunities in front of me.

Balancing a campaign with the responsibilities of my job and the joy of starting this next chapter with Winter simply isn’t the right fit for this moment. Stepping back allows me to give my best to my career, to my future family, and to the community I love.

So, with a grateful heart, I’m ending my campaign. Thank you for your understanding, your encouragement, and your belief in the work we can do together. I look forward to continuing to serve Winder and Barrow County in ways that strengthen the community we all call home.

With Love,

Power Evans
Ward 3 Councilman

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

After much thought and prayer, I’ve decided not to seek re-election to the Winder City Council.

This was not an easy decision. Serving this city has been one of the greatest honors of my life. I’m incredibly grateful for the trust and support you’ve shown me over the years. It’s been humbling to work alongside so many passionate, hardworking people who care deeply about our community.

Winder is more than just a dot on the map, it’s home. It’s where neighbors still wave from their front porches, where small businesses are built on big dreams, and where people show up for one another when it matters most. I love this town and her people with all my heart.

Although I won’t be serving in this particular role, I’m not stepping away from public service. I’m excited to announce that I will be running for the Barrow County Board of Commissioners to represent District 6.

As I look ahead, I see a chance to serve not just the people of Winder, but all of District 6. Our community is growing, evolving, and full of potential. I believe my experience and commitment to local government can help us move forward in smart, responsible, and meaningful ways.

I humbly ask for your support as I take this next step. Whether you live in the city or the county, I’m asking for your vote, your voice, and your belief in what we can accomplish together.

There’s more to come, and I can’t wait to get to work. Always remember, let’s give Power Back to the People!!!

With gratitude,
Power Evans

To everyone who could make it out to the vigil at Jug Tavern and to those who were able to make it to one of several held tonight around Barrow thank you for showing up. First please know that if you all need a place to grieve and come to remember those we have lost and think about those who have experienced great pain today know that you are welcome to come to Jug Tavern and place flowers and spend some time in peace and prayer. Our community is a special one and a strong one. Today is a day of tragedy, but it has also been one of love and grace. Our community has come together and shown the love that is needed. God bless Sheriff Jud Smith and the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office, Barrow County Emergency Services as well as the many other agencies both Law Enforcement and Emergency services that have helped in our community today. I pray for those who hurt tonight and please know my phone is always on and I am here to help in anyway. I love you all and may god bless Apalachee High School.
