Last week, Barrow County Fire Department personnel participated in a three-day, department-wide vehicle extrication training event designed to enhance the skills and coordination needed to safely remove trapped patients from motor vehicle accidents.

From Wednesday through Friday, crews rotated through hands-on scenarios covering vehicle stabilization, glass management, door and roof removals, dash displacement, patient access, and disentanglement techniques. These realistic training evolutions allowed personnel to sharpen critical skills while working together under challenging conditions.

Motor vehicle accidents remain one of the most common and complex emergencies our crews respond to. Training opportunities like these ensure BCFD personnel are prepared to deliver the highest level of service when our community needs us most.

We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to Myles Wrecker Service and All County Towing for generously donating vehicles for the training. Community partnerships like these help us provide realistic, hands-on training that directly benefits the citizens we serve.

Train hard. Stay ready.
