🚨🔥 BURN BAN NOTICE | OCTOBER 24–25, 2026 🔥🚨

NO OUTDOOR BURNING PERMITTED IN BARROW COUNTY!

The Barrow County Fire Department is advising residents that outdoor burning will NOT be permitted on Saturday, October 24, and Sunday, October 25, 2026.

This decision is based on forecasted weather conditions, including:

💨 Possible wind gusts exceeding 20 mph

🌡️ Low relative humidity levels

These conditions increase the risk of fires spreading rapidly and becoming difficult to control.

🚫 REMINDER: BURN PERMITS ARE REQUIRED!

When outdoor burning is allowed, residents must obtain a burn permit before burning.

✅ Permits are FREE of charge.

✅ Permits are issued 7 days a week, after 8:00 AM, when burning is allowed.

⚠️ A burn permit does NOT override burn restrictions. No outdoor burning is permitted during the October 24–25 burn ban.

Bring the whole family, dress up in your favorite costume, and come enjoy an afternoon filled with CANDY, COMMUNITY & FUN! 🍬👻

🚒 Sparky will be riding on the fire truck!
🎃 Costumes are encouraged!
🍬 Candy, smiles & Halloween fun!

🔥 OUTDOOR BURNING SEASON BEGINS OCTOBER 1 🔥

Outdoor burning in Barrow County is available October 1 through April 30, weather permitting. A FREE online burn permit is required before burning.

🌐 How to obtain a permit:
Visit GeorgiaBurnPermits.com, select Barrow County, and, if weather conditions allow burning that day, select “Apply for a Permit.”

⚠️ If permits are not available, weather conditions do not allow outdoor burning. Please check again after 8:00 AM the following day.

📅 Remember: Burn permits are valid ONLY for the date they are issued. If you need to burn again the following day, you must apply for a new permit. Fires can be started after daylight and should be extinguished an hour before dark.

🚫 You can NEVER legally burn man-made materials, household trash, tires, or plastics.

Before burning, make sure conditions are safe, maintain appropriate clearances, outdoor burning is permitted only in daylight hours, never leave a fire unattended. If conditions become unsafe, extinguish the fire.

🥫🐾 HELP US FILL THE BOXES, BARROW COUNTY! 🐾🥫

The Barrow County Fire Department is proud to partner with Barrow County Communications / 911 for a community donation drive to help our neighborsand their four-legged family members this holiday season!

📅 October 1 – November 15, 2026

We will be collecting:

🥫 Non-Perishable Food Donations
Help support local families in need throughout Barrow County.

🐶🐱 Pet Food & Pet Supply Donations
Donations will help support Barrow Animal Services and the animals in their care.

🚒 HOW TO DONATE:
Collection boxes will be available at BCFD fire stations throughout Barrow County. Simply stop by your local station and drop off food for people, pet food, or pet supplies.

Our firefighters, dispatchers, and 911 professionals serve this community every day, and this is another opportunity for all of us to come together and make a difference.

Leadership extends beyond our own department.

Barrow County Fire Department Training Division Lieutenant Payton Owens recently had the opportunity to serve as a guest lecturer for Columbus Fire & EMS, speaking with their members about leadership in the fire service.

Opportunities like this allow departments to share experiences, exchange ideas, and continue developing the next generation of fire service leaders. We’re proud to have members of our Training Division representing Barrow County and contributing to the profession beyond our borders.

🚒🔥 Learning Today, Safer Tomorrow! 🧯⭐️

We had a great time welcoming Cub Scout Pack 721, based at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, to the station!

The Scouts toured the fire station, checked out the trucks and gear, and learned some important fire safety tips along the way. 👨‍🚒🚒

Their visit helped them work toward earning their Safe and Smart Adventure Loop, and we’re proud to be a part of their learning adventure!

A big thank you to Pack 721 for spending part of their day with us. We love getting to connect with the young people in our community and helping build the next generation of fire-safety champions! ❤️‍🔥
