Become a…
GMS Classroom Volunteer!
Many Gotha Middle School students could benefit from volunteers spending time with them in the classroom each week. The GMS Classroom Volunteer Program connects a volunteer with teachers who would like assistance in their classroom. The program is flexible, allowing volunteers to choose the subjects, dates and times. Typically volunteers assist with basic core subjects such as math, reading, and science; however even electives such as music, art, drama, and PE also need volunteers.

It could be your most important appointment of the day!
Current Volunteer Needs:
Please Contact:

Jennifer Widga-Kirby - Program Coordinator / PTO at [email protected]
or Monica Emery - Assistant Principal, GMS at [email protected]

*All volunteers will need to be approved through OCPS Additions web-based qualifying questionnaire. https://www.ocps.net/es/cr/resources/Pages/VolunteerOnlineApplication.aspx

Teach-In
Be a Teacher for a Day
Wednesday, November 14, 2012

Each November, in celebration of American Education Week, the Foundation brings business and civic leaders into the classrooms - in a fun and engaging way - to talk with students about academics, careers and the future.
Some volunteers read books to pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten students. Some teach practical, personal skills to high school students; such as, managing a checking account and using credit cards wisely. Others involve entire middle school classes in projects like a mock election.
You can read a book; share an educational experience or your career; talk about a favorite vacation, hobby, or how a special teacher touched your life. Whatever your skills, no matter your topic, there is a classroom of students waiting to hear from you! To get matched with the appropriate grade and classroom(s), please contact your school’s coordinator listed below and your school will contact you soon.
It takes as little as an hour of your time.

Fuel My School:
We all know that funds are tight in this economy, so here is an option that can help schools to raise money without doing anything more than spreading the word. This was a plan worked out by two parents who wanted to help schools with funding. There are look-alike programs out there, so don't be fooled; this one was approved by the school board and is totally non-profit; those administering it do not make any money off this.

It is imperative that the public knows about FuelMySchool and WHAT TO DO WITH IT and how easily it makes a large impact on education. Sharing this information is good for schools!
Contact your parents, PTA's, SAC's and clubs in your area. This needs to be shared!

We use a program called Fuel My School which helps us get the tools we need. It's very easy and doesn't cost our school or you anything extra.

First: Every time you shop online as you already do, you are raising money for our school through Fuel My School.

Secondly, our school and classroom wish list is posted there so if you want to grant a school wish it is simple and easy to do.

How does it work?
1. Go to FuelMySchool.com
2. Search our school
3. Check out our school wishes to see if you can help
4. Bookmark our Shop 4 Schools mall and then EVERYTIME you’re shopping online, click the mall first and proceed as you normally do!

Our school will earn money and resources through Fuel My School.
