School is back in session

📚🎒 Back to School in RSU 14! 🎒📚

Students will soon be heading back to classrooms across Windham and Raymond. Please help us keep everyone safe by slowing down and staying alert in school zones.

RSU 14 School Start Dates:
✅ Grades 1-9: Monday, August 31
✅ Grades 10-12: Tuesday, September 1
✅ Pre-K & Kindergarten: Wednesday, September 3 and Thursday, September 4

🚸 Remember: School Zone Speed Limits are 15 MPH when flashing.

Watch for children crossing streets, school buses stopping to load and unload students, and increased traffic around schools.

Let's work together to make this school year a safe one for every student, parent, and staff member.

Today, August27th, The Windham Book and Food Mobile wrapped up a successful summer bringing food and reading materials to appreciative residents throughout Windham.

Yesterday, the Windham Public Library sponsored an event where children could meet with local veterans, hear their stories and develop a better understanding of what it means to have served the Country in that capacity.

Town Engineer, Mark Arienti reports that the North Windham Wastewater Treatment Plant is accepting wastewater from businesses in North Windham. The first date of operation was August 19th. Portland Water District (PWD) and their contractors are still making some adjustments to operating parameters as incoming flows are being added, but this is to expected with any new treatment plant of this complexity.

Businesses that are discharging to the collection system as of the date of this report include: Shaws Plaza (which includes Shaws, Staples, CVS, Town Fair Tire, and Pet Warehouse), Reny’s, Portland, Pie, Hannaford, the Windham Mall and the Manchester School. All of these businesses, except Manchester School, discharge to the gravity collection lines that flow to the PWD pump station at corner of Manchester Drive and Rte. 35, which pumps it over to the treatment plant. Manchester School discharges directly to the 15-inch sewer line that flows to the plant.

During the remainder of August and through the fall, the Town will be working to collect additional North Windham businesses to the sewer system.
