This morning, our department held its annual Retiree breakfast. Due to the weather, festivities were moved in doors but that didn’t stop our firefighters from delivering a great breakfast for those who came. It was good to catch up and chat with those who attended. To those who could not be with us this year, you were missed. We hope to see you next year. A big thank you to Windham Professional Firefighters L-2915 and the Fire Association for all their work. Great job!

FOR MEDIA RELEASE

INCIDENT DATE: Wednesday May 27, 2026
INCIDENT TIME: 3:12pm
INCIDENT LOCATION: #47 North Lowell Road
INCIDENT TYPE: Construction / Industrial Accident

PREPARED BY: Chief Thomas McPherson Jr.

This afternoon at approximately 3:12PM, Windham Fire and Windham Police were dispatched to #47 North Lowell Road for reported traumatic injuries at a construction site. Additional information received enroute was that it was a dump truck that rolled down the hill and tipped over with the driver still inside.

Windham C-1 (Chief McPherson), along with Medic-2 (Lt. R. Pitts, FF. D. Cole, FF. A. Brissette), and Engine-2 (A/Lt. D. Dubowik, FF. C. Lundergan, FF. J. Mahoney) responded.

Medic-2 and Windham C-1 arrived on scene to find an articulating dump truck that had moderate front-end damage, with a spider web break in the windshield, and the articulating bed of the truck tipped over with a good portion of gravel it appeared to be hauling, dumped out. EMS located a lone male occupant/operator, still in the vehicle but dazed and confused. Bystanders advised that prior to EMS arrival, the operator was up against the windshield and unresponsive for a short time. They said that just prior to EMS arrival, the driver regained consciousness.

EMS conducted a quick assessment and determined that the operator could self-ambulate. He was placed in a C-Collar and assisted down from the vehicle and placed into the ambulance. E-2 arrived and conducted fluid control of a minor diesel fuel leak which they contained with absorbent pads for protection. No other fluids were noted as leaking. EMS requested a Trauma Alert to Parkland Medical Center in Derry due to the mechanism of injury and they ultimately cleared the scene and transported the patient.

No other injuries were reported. Windham Police Department is currently investigating the incident.

One of the Mandatory requirements for appointment of Full-time Career Firefighters is that within one year of appointment, they complete an acrophobia test (fear of heights). The firefighter, without stopping for more than 30 seconds, shall climb up and down an unsupported aerial ladder at an angle of at least 65 degrees but not more than 75 degrees for a distance of 100' as measured from the tip of the ladder to the ground.

This morning, both Probationary Firefighter's Andrew Siok and Alex Brissette completed that testing. Great job by both recruits!
