Today, we recognize the Indian Citizenship Act of 1924, which granted U.S. citizenship to Native Americans.
While this was an important moment in history, citizenship did not immediately guarantee full voting rights, equal treatment, or fair representation. Native people continued to fight for their voices to be heard.
As the Office of Navajo Government Development has completed its educational presentations and public opinion collection on the Navajo Government Reform Proposal, we acknowledge the Navajo people who participated, asked questions, and shared their concerns.
This moment reminds us that civic participation is powerful. Our voices, our votes, and our responsibility continue to shape the future of the Navajo Nation.
The power remains with the Navajo People.
