This weekend - bridge closure!!

Plans can certainly change, but as of right now it is on for this coming weekend. Route 140 bridge will be closed to through traffic. Montgomery and Ahlstoms will head east to leave their properties into East Windsor and will have to return via the same way. There will be no through traffic, foot or pedestrian, at this time from the Windsor Locks side heading east.

Main Street will be passable, but the roadway will be narrow around the construction site. Expect delays and plan accordingly.

We will update with any changes.

Memorial Day Parade Success & Thank You! 🇺🇸

We are pleased to report that today’s Memorial Day Parade went off as planned and without incident!

While the weather threw us a curveball early on, the rain finally cleared up. Our officers worked to secure numerous intersections and quickly manage unauthorized vehicles and persons attempting to enter the parade route, keeping all of our marchers and spectators safe.

True to police work, the day brought the unexpected. Just before kickoff, what started as a routine call for service "without fail" escalated when the individual was found to have three outstanding arrest warrants. Taking this person into custody immediately reconfigured our staffing levels right before the parade started. Thanks to the professionalism of our staff, we adjusted and seamlessly filled security gaps along the route and the congested area of Elm at Main St, where the parade ends.

Most importantly, today is about remembrance. We want to extend our deepest gratitude to our community's veterans and their families. Thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and your resilience. It is our absolute honor to protect and serve this community so we can safely gather to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

Stay safe, Everyone!

“Greater love has no man than this..."

Memorial Day isn't about barbecues or sales. It is a solemn reminder of the steep price paid for our liberty.

Today, we remember every soldier, sailor, marine, airman, and guardian who laid down their life in service to our nation, and to their families who continue to carry this burden of sacrifice.

Rest easy, heroes.

You are never forgotten. 🕯️🇺🇸

Because of our daily obligations it is rare that so many of us can come together like this, but it sure was worth it!

Our WLPD Community Engagement goes on throughout the year. We do not post everything but we always enjoy the positive interaction and building relationships within our community.

Today's Spotlight on Community Partnership: is The RISE Transition Academy! 🌟

We love highlighting the incredible programs making a difference right here in Windsor Locks! Our Officers recently had the privilege of visiting the RISE Transition Academy! We truly enjoyed our visit and having lunch with these exceptional young adults and staff!

Located right at Windsor Locks High School, this inspiring academy is dedicated to empowering young adults ages 18 to 22 with diverse learning needs as they bridge the gap between school and adult life. It was wonderful to learn how they build bright futures through:
🔹 Career Readiness: Helping students discover their passions and gain real-world vocational experience with local partners.
🔹 Independent Living: Teaching essential everyday skills, from budgeting to home management.
🔹 Community Connection: Guiding students on how to confidently navigate our town and utilize public resources.
🔹 Self-Advocacy: Giving young adults the tools and confidence to speak up for their goals and future choices.

We are so proud to serve a community that invests deeply in their independence, growth, and success.

Thank you to everyone at the RISE Academy for the warm welcome and the great lunch! Keep up the amazing work!

We are always here should you need us!
