Citizens of the Kelford/Roxobel communities of Bertie. I ask that you be alert and on the lookout for anything suspicious in your areas. Since Saturday, we have had two drive by shootings. One on Norfleets Ferry Road in Roxobel and another in the 3900 block of Governors Road in Kelford. While these shootings are believed to be targeted, we are asking that if you see something, say something. Our criminal investigations division is reviewing surveillance footage from these communities to obtain a suspect vehicle description.

Marvin outlaw has been taken into custody by the Bertie County Sheriff’s Office. Outlaw was processed and confined into Duplin County Jail under no bond.

The Bertie County Sheriff’s Office is requesting the public’s assistance in locating Marvin Gaye Outlaw (43) of Kelford. Warrants have been obtained for Outlaw’s arrest in reference to a shooting that occurred on August 16, 2026, around 12 o’clock noon at an address in the 200 block of 72 Sidings Rd. Kelford. An adult male was struck and has been listed in stable condition.

Outlaw is believed to be operating a 2014 Chrysler 300, gold in color, with a broken windshield. Outlaw is known to frequent the Springhill/Indian Woods Community of Bertie.

The Bertie County Sheriff’s Office has outstanding warrants for William Vernon of Lewiston/Woodville for Felony Breaking & Entering and Felony Larceny. Vernon is wanted for breaking into a local business in the Lewiston/Woodville area. If you know his whereabouts, contact the Bertie County Sheriffs Office. 252-794-5330.

Vehicle accident reported in 500 block of Connarista Road in Aulander involving a chicken truck. First responders are in route and traffic in this area may be detoured.

TRAINING EXERCISE
A large-scale active shooter drill will be happening tomorrow, August 11, 2026, at Bertie High School. You may see several law enforcement, EMS, and fire vehicles. There will be signs posted, alerting the community that it is a training exercise.

Citizens of Aulander. You may have heard some shooting in the area. Deputies have located the individuals who purchased some property near the city limits of Aulander. Deputies have spoken with them about the city and county ordinances. The shooting has ceased.

Public Assistance Requested

Troop A District II

On Sunday 29 July 2023, at approximately 5:08 am Mr. Emmanuel Arkel Foreman of 1505 Hexlena Rd., Aulander, North Carolina was killed after being struck by an unknown vehicle while walking in the roadway on NC-305, 1.50 miles east of Aulander, in Bertie County. The vehicle which struck Mr. Foreman failed to stop at the scene and investigators were unable to locate any evidence indicating the type, make, model, or color of the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run collision. If anyone has any information, please contact Sgt. J.G. Williams with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol (252) 332-6800 or the Bertie County Sheriff’s Office (252) 794-5330.

This case is being investigated by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
