This Memorial Day, the members of Windsor Volunteer Fire Department pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country.

Their courage, dedication, and selflessness will never be forgotten. As we gather with family and friends today, we encourage everyone to take a moment to reflect on the freedoms we enjoy because of those who gave everything in defense of our nation.

From all of us at Windsor Volunteer Fire Department, we thank our fallen heroes and the families who continue to carry their legacy.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget. 🇺🇸

🚩🚩🚩Increased Fire Danger ll AM to 8 PM EDT Wednesday🚩🚩🚩

The combination of low relative humidity values in the 25 to 30 percent range, dry fuels, and SW winds gusting up to around 20 mph will result in an increased risk for the rapid spread of wildfires across much of central and eastern Virginia.

Residents are urged to exercise caution handling any potential ignition source, including machinery, ci******es, and matches. Be sure to properly discard all smoking materials. Any dry grasses and tree litter that ignite will have the potential to spread quickly.

Virginia residents are reminded that open burning is prohibited before 4 PM EDT each day through April 30th.

Virginia’s spring fire season is here, officially Feb. 15 – April 30. During that time, the statewide burn law is in effect, which prohibits outdoor fires between midnight and 4 p.m. 🔥🚫

Don't be fooled by the snow! Most of Virginia is in a drought caused by months of below-average rainfall. Already this year, DOF has responded to 80 wildfires that have burned nearly 800 acres.

The best ways you can prevent wildfires:
🔥 Wait until after the fire season to burn yard debris
🔥 If you must burn, avoid windy days
🔥 Never leave a fire unattended
🔥 Know the state burn law and local restrictions

Get more tips, and learn about the 4 p.m. burning law on DOF’s website: https://ow.ly/3SsV50Yey8q
