Today is our intern’s last day… 😢
Lori has been with us at the Windsor Senior Center since May 18 and came to us during a time when we really benefited from some extra hands. Lori was so helpful in getting us prepared for the HVAC project happening at LP Wilson. But, not only that - she was able to participate in many of our programs and activities including Mahjongg, Dee’s Fitness Classes, Tai Chi, Line Dancing, and Expressive Arts. She learned how to call Bingo and provided an educational talk on balance. She really got to experience life at the Windsor Senior Center… and learned the steps one can take to age well!!! Best wishes to Lori in all that she does!! She will be missed! ☺️❤️

We had a wonderful time celebrating Father's Day at the Windsor Senior Center today!

A special thank you to Bloomfield Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation for sponsoring a delicious hot breakfast - eggs, pancakes, sausage, fruit salad, juice, coffeee - YUM! We also raffled off gift cards and New Britain Bees tickets, and enjoyed a fantastic performance by our Windsor Senior Center "Friends Forever" group, who brought a little sunshine to this rainy morning with their Island Hopping in Hawaii Chair Hula performance.

Happy Father's Day to all the dads, grandfathers, and father figures in our community!

Tomorrow we will welcome Dan Sterner back to the Senior Center. for another series on Historic Hartford. For centuries, Hartford was an active port along the Connecticut River, with numerous wharfs, dockyard businesses and warehouses connected to the West Indies trade. Learn about the many buildings and fascinating personalities associated with the old riverfront, which was gradually lost to the development of modern bridges and highways. Call 860-285-1992 to register.

My latest in-person presentation is about Hartford's Lost Riverfront at the Windsor Senior Center (599 Matianuck Avenue, Windsor, CT) Wednesday June 10 at 12:30 PM. Call to register: 860-285-1992. 🌲🥾 What a great way to celebrate National Trails Day!

This past Friday, Nineteen Windsor Senior Center Happy Hikers joined Club Leader Bill for an adventure at Northwest Park. Despite the warm weather, shaded trails provided a comfortable hike through woodlands, wetlands, scenic overlooks, and past a dinosaur track exhibit.

Highlights included blooming pink Lady Slippers, fragrant wild white roses, a Tulip Tree flower discovery, and welcoming our newest hiker, Susan. Thanks to Bill's route planning, the group also avoided a bear sighting reported by other hikers nearby! 🐻😄

Thank you to Bill and all who joined us for a day of fresh air, friendship, and exploration. Interested in joining the Windsor Senior Center Happy Hikers Club? Call us at 860-285-1992 and we'll add you to the list!
