Today, Windsor EMS joins our community and our nation in remembering all those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.

We honor the firefighters, EMS professionals, law enforcement officers, military members, and countless others who answered the call to help—many making the ultimate sacrifice in service to others. We also remember every civilian and individual whose life was taken that day.

We remember those who never came home, those whose lives were forever changed, and the extraordinary courage and unity shown in the days that followed.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to honor their memory and the legacy of service, sacrifice, and resilience they left behind.

We will never forget.

🐾 A Big Milestone for Winston! 🐾

Windsor EMS is proud to announce that Winston has officially passed his Alliance of Therapy Dogs test and is now a Certified Therapy Dog!

For the past two years, Winston has been training alongside his handler, EMT Richards, preparing for this important role. His certification marks an exciting milestone in the work they have already been doing together. WEMS recognizes the valuable role a therapy dog can play in supporting the wellness of our EMS providers. Winston will continue to provide a comforting presence for WEMS personnel, support provider wellness initiatives, participate in community outreach, and assist surrounding agencies and their personnel when requested. Winston has already become a familiar and much-loved presence around WEMS, and we’re excited to see him continue growing in his role and making a positive difference — one wagging tail at a time. 💕🐾

Last week our friend and colleague, Paramedic Mike Glazier, and his family were on vacation in Florida when Mike's son, JD, entered hospice care. It is with profound sadness that we now share that JD has since passed away. They are far from home, their support system, and the comfort of familiar surroundings. Our hearts are with Mike and his entire family as they navigate this unimaginable loss. While no words can ease the pain of losing a child, we hope our community can continue to surround them with the compassion and support they so deeply deserve.

Throughout this journey, the Glazier family will face significant medical expenses, extended travel and lodging costs while in Florida, and now the additional financial burdens that come with bringing JD home and handling final arrangements. During a time when their focus should be on grieving and healing, these unexpected expenses only add to an already overwhelming situation.

We are asking our community to continue standing with Mike and his family by supporting their GoFundMe fundraiser. Every donation, no matter the amount, will go directly toward helping ease these financial burdens, allowing the Glazier family to focus on one another in the difficult days ahead.

Congratulations to Ja’Quise Green the successful completion of his Paramedic Program! 👏

After 16 months of a demanding and rigorous educational program, Green has officially crossed the finish line! This achievement represents countless hours of studying, clinical rotations, ambulance ride time, exams, and unwavering dedication—all while working full-time as an EMT serving the Town of Windsor and our surrounding communities. His commitment to advancing his skills while continuing to provide exceptional care to our patients is something we're incredibly proud of.

Now there's just one final challenge... the legendary wait for that Connecticut State Paramedic number. 😄 Some say it's the toughest part of the entire process!

Today, we’re proud to recognize the incredible teamwork and dedication of our first responders.

Earlier this year, our ambulance crews and Windsor police officers responded to a call for an unresponsive patient who went into cardiac arrest. Thanks to their quick actions, strong communication, and seamless teamwork, they were able to provide lifesaving care right away.

Because of their efforts, that patient not only survived—but was later discharged home with no neurological deficits. In simple terms, they made a full recovery and returned to their normal life.

This kind of outcome doesn’t happen by chance. It’s the result of training, trust, and collaboration between agencies working side by side when every second counts.

Today, we honor these responders with lifesaving awards in recognition of their skill, professionalism, and commitment to our community.
