Good Morning Everyone!

Please remember that we still have openings for Swim Camp during the week of July 13–17. Spots are filling quickly, and we want to ensure that we are fully prepared for your child’s participation.

If possible, please complete your child's registration by July 2. Early registration helps us finalize camp plans and staffing to provide the best experience for all participants.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out. We look forward to seeing your child at Swim Camp!

Our summer intern, Amina Smallwood, put together a recap video highlighting our second week of 4-H Summer Camps! She has been such an asset at showcasing our 4-H program the last 2 years she has worked with us! So take a moment, sit back, relax, and enjoy “’Twas the Night Before 4-H Camps.” 🎬☀️🍀

And today was our final stop of the week! We visited Hardly Farm and spent the day with some adorable alpacas. We started by making little nesting balls using fiber from one of the farm’s alpacas. Then, we got to meet and feed the herd, and we quickly discovered that alpacas absolutely love snacks!

One of the highlights of the day was meeting a baby alpaca that was only a few weeks old. After spending time with our furry friends, we wrapped up the day with some games and enjoyed lunch while staying cool on this hot summer day.

What an incredible second week of 4-H Summer Camp! From exploring nature and meeting horses to discovering exotic animals and making new alpaca friends, these little campers have learned, laughed, and made memories that will last a lifetime. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the summer has in store! 💚🍀 Cooperative Extension at A&T

Today we visited Contentnea Creek in Grifton, NC, a sister museum to the Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh!

We started our day with a hike, discovering many animals, plants, and trees along the way. Most importantly, we learned to let everything be. We are guests in nature’s home, and it’s our responsibility to respect and protect it. We even learned how to identify poison ivy and why it’s best to admire it from a distance!

Next, we became little engineers and created miniature beaver dams to test how much water they could hold. It was amazing to see creativity and science come together!

We wrapped up our day with movies in the planetarium, ending another adventure filled with exploration, discovery, and fun. 🌿🦫🌎✨

Today was a little different. This horse camp was just for our teens, and what an incredible day it was.

At Heartland Estate in Stokes, our youth were guided through several activities focused on connecting with horses. We started by taking a few deep breaths, centering ourselves, and meeting Rosie. It wasn’t nearly as hard as some of us thought it would be.

Some came in feeling scared or nervous, but throughout the day we learned how to groom horses, wrap their legs, and better understand their care. More importantly, we discovered that horses are about so much more than riding.

These gentle animals have a way of teaching us to slow down, regulate our emotions, and find calm. They mirror our energy and remind us that sometimes the most meaningful connections happen in quiet moments.

Today was a beautiful reminder that growth often begins with a deep breath and the courage to try something new. 🐴🤎 Cooperative Extension at A&T

Today, we had so many littles participate in Horse Camp! One thing we learned is that horses are incredibly patient, even when we’re feeling nervous. Despite their size, they’re really just big cuddle bugs.

My favorite moment of the day was watching one camper overcome her fear. As soon as she got on the horse, she became scared and wanted to get off. One of the instructors gently started asking her questions: “What’s your favorite color? What’s your favorite food? Do you have any pets?” Almost instantly, she began to relax.

It was such a powerful reminder that sometimes we’re only as scared as our minds convince us we are. Those little negative thoughts can feel so loud, but when we redirect our focus to things that bring us joy, comfort, and confidence, we often discover we’re capable of more than we thought.

Today wasn’t just about learning to ride horses, it was about learning that courage isn’t the absence of fear. Sometimes, it’s simply choosing to focus on something brighter and taking the next step anyway. 💚🍀

EasiHorse Farm thank you for making our children feel comfortable and for the experience🐴💚🍀 Cooperative Extension at A&T
