Welcome to the 2026 Summer Reading program at the Windsor Public Library! Stop by Kidspace or the Wilson Branch to pick up your summer reading booklet and follow the steps provided to register and earn raffle tickets for prizes for the summer.

Summer reading will run from June 20 to August 17.

Herbalist Nora Toomey returns to the Wilson Branch Library for another informative and engaging session on the benefits of plants that can be found right in your own yard on Monday, July 20 at 6:00 PM. Weather permitting we will get outside and check out what is growing wild in our lawn and intentionally planted in our garden and learn how to harness the power of plants for health and wellness.

Don't forget to join us at the Windsor Public Library for our kick off for summer reading with a spectacular science performance from Science Heroes tomorrow, Saturday, June 20 from 10:30 AM to 12:15 PM. Unearth your curiosity as we dig into the incredible science that’s all around us! If you didn’t already love science, you’ll really ‘dig it’ after experiencing Science Heroes!

Sign up for summer reading while you're here. The first 40 children to arrive will receive a swag bag. We'll also have raffle prizes and free books for attendees! Ages 0 to 17 welcome. No registration needed.

To mark America's 250th Anniversary, illustrator, author and Advanced Cicerone Em Sauter will give an illustrated presentation discussing the role of beer and brewing in American history at the Windsor Public Library on Thursday, July 9 at 6:30 PM. Starting from the Pilgrims landing on Plymouth Rock (because they were out of beer!) to the modern craft brewery movement and the beers we love today, beer has been woven through the fabric of American history.

Bio: Em Sauter is an award-winning cartoonist, international beer judge, Advanced Cicerone, public speaker and founder of Pints and Panels, a website she launched in 2010 to focus on visual drinks education. A Connecticut resident, Em has authored four books on beer and is currently working on a fifth book about whiskey.

The Windsor Public Library's Kidspace has organized two unique summer field trips.

On Wednesday, July 15 at 10:00 AM, we invite folks to join us at the Yale Peabody Museum for a Geology Workshop. Registration is required.

On Wednesday, August 12 at 10:00 AM, we invite folks to join us at Dinosaur State Park for fossil mining. Registration is required.

Today is Dinosaur Day at the Windsor Public Library! Stop in and play some games, do some crafts, watch a movie all on Wednesday, July 8. Dress up in your favorite Dino costume! Dino Day is open to children of all ages and will go from 10:30 AM to 3:00 PM! Give yourself a special dinosaur name. You might even see your librarians with their costumes too! It will be a great day to walk, talk and roar like a Dino.
