This interactive workshop at the Windsor Public Library on Wednesday, September 23 at 6:30 PM will introduce participants to several artificial intelligence apps to explore their varied uses. Together, we’ll discuss how AI can streamline daily tasks at work and at home, while also recognizing the ethical and environmental implications of this technology. We’ll also discuss the responsibilities that AI companies have in keeping its users safe and what we can do to protect our personal information.

Our presenter is Amy Weiss an assistant professor of Judaic Studies and History at the University of Hartford. She recently received a 2026 Teaching and Learning Grant on AI from the University of Hartford’s Center for Teaching Excellence and Innovation. The university also named her an AI Faculty Facilitator, tasked with creating a professional development workshop for faculty. During the 2025 – 2026 academic year, Amy has served as the lead faculty fellow for the Humanities Center’s Honors Seminar, where she is teaching a two semester course titled “AI in Action: The Future of Humans.” She holds a certificate from the Generative AI: Technology, Business, and Society Program at Stanford University.

Join us at the Windsor Public Library for an interactive community conversation lead by Sam Forbes, MA, on Monday, September 21 at 6:30 PM exploring the conditions that help children, youth, and adults build healthy, connected, and fulfilling lives. Drawing from research on Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs) and the HOPE (Healthy Outcomes from Positive Experiences) framework, participants will learn how supportive relationships, safe environments, meaningful engagement, and opportunities for emotional growth contribute to lifelong health and well-being.

Together, we'll explore where these strengths already exist in our community and consider how a wide range of people, organizations, and community spaces contribute to creating them. Through guided discussion and reflection, participants will have the opportunity to share their perspectives, learn from one another, and imagine new possibilities for strengthening community well-being.

Bring in the accessories to your outfits that you no longer want or use to the Windsor Public Library from August 29 through September 11. The actual swap is on Saturday, September 12 at 2:00 PM.

This exciting event is open to everyone. You do not have to donate to be able to take items from the Community Swap. PLEASE only bring in items that are in good condition that you would want to bring home. Items which are deemed “un-swap-able” will not be a part of the event. Items will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Items left behind after the swap may be used for future library programs, donated, or recycled. No bags will be supplied; please bring something to carry your new items home.

The library in no way endorses the quality or safety of the accessories provided. Swap at your own risk!

Have a craft project in mind, but not sure where to start? Our Makerspace Librarian Carmela Pham will have one-on-one appointments on the third Thursday of every month at 4:00 and 5:00 PM at the Windsor Public Library. These one on one appointments will take place on Thursday, September 17.

During your hour long one-on-one appointment, you will be given basic understanding and use of the machine (if using one), guided instruction through each step of the project, and information on the best methods and practices with the use of the Makerspace and its materials.
