💰 Personnel costs now represent 78% of the total budget up from 55% just six years ago.
📈 Expenses growing at 16.8% annually. Revenue is only up 12% over the same period.

🚨 COMMUNITY NOTICE: Upcoming Safety Exercise on June 17 🚨

WSFR families and neighbors, we want to give you a heads-up about an important training event happening in our community next week.

As part of our ongoing commitment to working with our partners to keep students and staff safe, the Weld RE-4 School District will host a full-scale emergency response exercise on Wednesday, June 17, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Severance Middle School and Severance High School.

This real-time simulation is being conducted in partnership with local first responders and community organizations, including the Town of Windsor, Town of Severance, Windsor Severance Fire Rescue, Weld County, and UCHealth.

🛑 What to Expect in the Area:
If you live near or are passing by the Severance schools on June 17, please do not be alarmed if you notice:
- An increased presence of law enforcement and emergency response vehicles.
- A large number of individuals gathered at both schools.
- Loud noises.

We are sharing this in advance to ensure everyone knows this is strictly a drill and a vital part of our proactive safety preparedness efforts.

We are so proud of one of our own!

Firefighter Matt Cooper has written and published a book, "In Case I Don't Come Home, Letters to My Son." Matt started with a question every firefighter has thought about at some point: if I didn't come home tomorrow, what would I want my son to know? The result is a collection of letters that is personal, honest, and full of heart.

Our Annual Open House is coming up this Saturday, 6/13, from 8am - noon, and we can't wait to welcome the community to Station 1!

One of the groups joining us this year is First Responder Therapy Dogs, a national 501(c)3 nonprofit doing incredible work for first responder mental health. With 500+ certified therapy dog teams across 46 states, they're leading the charge on reducing stigma and bringing emotional support directly to the people who serve our communities every day.

On June 13th, Windsor Severance Fire Rescue is hosting our Open House, and this year, we're bringing something you've never seen before.
The Division of Fire Prevention and Control is rolling in a full-scale, walk-through Home Safety Simulator- a hands-on, immersive trailer experience designed for ALL ages. We're talking:
🏠 Walk through real-life fire hazard scenarios
🚨 Practice calling 911, finding exits, and making smart decisions under pressure
🔍 Spot hidden dangers before they become emergencies
♿ Fully ADA accessible- everyone can participate

Come learn what firefighters want every family to know. Free, fun, and open to the whole community. 6/13/2026 from 8am-noon.

Safe Sitter Essentials Class - seats available!

We had a couple of seats open up for the upcoming babysitting course this Wednesday, 6/3, from 9am-1pm. Safe Sitter® is designed to prepare students in grades 6-8 to be safe when they’re home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting.
