****UPDATE We have an interested party to pick up the soil pending, thank-you all for your responses*** Hello all! We are trying to help a community member that is looking for some assistance with getting a few yards of dirt removed from their driveway that appears to have been accidentally dumped there when they were away. It does not appear to be of loam quality but there does not seem to be a lot of rocks either so I would estimate the quality to be somewhere between fill and a lower grade of topsoil. It's possible the delivery company got the wrong address. For privacy I will not list the exact address but if anyone was supposed to get a delivery near the Ascutney and Union intersection and did not, or they are interested in picking up the dirt for their own project, please contact Det. Berry at (802) 299-5913 to make arrangements. Thank-you!

Thank you Martha for your dedication to excellent work. Thank you to all the dispatchers at Hartford Emergency Communications Center for your dedication. The Windsor Police Department appreciates you!

Recognizing Martha Morse of the Hartford Emergency Communications Center.

This week marks the observance of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, a time to recognize Dispatchers for their dedication, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to public safety. Over the past year, the Vermont Emergency Dispatch Association has worked diligently to grow as an organization that supports Dispatchers across the state. Throughout this week, we are proud to highlight several Dispatchers from departments across Vermont who have been nominated by their colleagues for recognition.

In writing this commendation, Martha’s colleagues shared with us that she has an incredible amount of experience and has a true attention to detail. She provides an outstanding level of care to her callers, never losing her cool, and always being a kind and compassionate call-taker. She has become an expert with the management of their CAD program and is a great resource for all Dispatchers to lean on when there are technical questions. She strives to constantly look for ways to improve the technologies that Dispatchers utilize to make their jobs more efficient.

Martha, on behalf of the Vermont Emergency Dispatch Association, we thank you for your service!

PARKING BAN!!!
The town highway dept. wanted me to remind folks that the parking ban is still in effect through April 30th. The highway dept. will be cleaning roads (sweeping dirt, debris, etc.) during the early morning hours and although the weather may be getting warmer, there is always a chance of late season snow storms! Thank-you all for your cooperation and assistance with making sure your vehicles are not parked on the streets.

SCAM/FRAUD ALERT!!!!
There is a current SCAM trend going on where subjects are posing as members of Law Enforcement and threatening to arrest unless an amount of money is transferred to cover the made up warrant or bail cost. In a recent case a local resident was defrauded out of 13,500.00. In this case the scammer, claiming to be with the Windsor County Sheriff's Office, told the victim that he had an outstanding federal warrant for failing to appear for jury duty. They used real current and past deputies names to appear legit and told the victim that there was a gag order in effect by a judge so that couldn't talk to anyone or hang up the phone. The scammers conducted what they referred to as a "verification call" in which the caller ID appeared to show that it was a legit call coming from the Sheriff's Dept. This is known as "spoofing", when scammers use a program to change their number and have it appear as though it is coming from a legitimate source. In this case the victim was directed to go to Cumberland Farms in Claremont, NH and transfer the money via a Bitcoin kiosk. The scammer remained on the phone with the victim the entire time. NOTE TO PUBLIC: Police in VT do not take cash or funds directly for the purposes of any kind of warrant or bail. No matter how legit the situation seems to be, always call your local PD to verify and or report any suspected scam. 802 674-9042
