Dolly Parton's legacy lives on in so many ways including the Imagination Library, helping children discover the joy of reading one book at a time.

Did you know the program is funded through a partnership between The Dollywood Foundation and local supporters? Here in our area, community support helps make sure every eligible child can receive free books each month.

You can honor Dolly's commitment to literacy by enrolling a child under 5 in the Imagination Library or by supporting the local program through the Legacy Regional Community Foundation.

We’re sharing this information for those in our community who may find it meaningful or helpful.

Please note: This is not a library-sponsored or library-organized event. The Winfield Public Library is providing the Community Room as a space for Hearts of Mercy & Compassion to be available to community members today.

The gathering is being hosted by Hearts of Mercy & Compassion, a ministry of Lutheran Church Charities. Please refer to their original post for details about the gathering and their organization.

Our hearts are with the families, friends, first responders, and everyone in our community who has been affected by this tragedy.

Winfield, please join us today.

Members of Lutheran Church Charities Hearts of Mercy & Compassion will be at the Winfield Public Library • Winfield, KS Community Room, 605 College Street, beginning at 10 a.m. today.

Hearts and crosses will be available for community members to sign as we remember Kelly, Carol, Ronald, Sarah, and Kelly, the five victims of Tuesday’s devastating domestic violence incident.

You don’t have to have known the victims to be affected by what happened. This tragedy has touched the entire community.

Come by to remember. Come to sign the hearts. Come to talk. Come to sit with others who are grieving. Our team is there to listen and to offer mercy, compassion, and the presence of Jesus.

For one of our HMC team members, Winfield is home. She never imagined her hometown would become another place where she would serve through tragedy.

Children are welcome. Please share this post with someone in Winfield who may need to know they are not alone.

Community Support Available at the Library

Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Resources of Cowley County will be holding office hours at the Library this Thursday and Friday. Their office was damaged, and we are glad to provide a temporary space where they can continue supporting our community.

Thursday, August 13: 9:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.
Friday, August 14: 8:30–11:30 a.m.

If you or someone you know needs support, resources, or a safe place to connect, please stop by during these hours or call them anytime on their number listed below.

We are grateful to be able to support this important work in our community.
