**Reporting Siren Issues**
We appreciate reports about sirens, as they help us identify issues quickly. When reporting, please include a specific location (address, intersection, or nearby landmark) so we can better determine which siren may be affected.

Recent storms and power outages gave many of us a real-world test of our emergency preparedness.

How did your household do?

Did you feel prepared, or did the outages help identify a few things you may want to improve before the next round of severe weather?

Things to think about:
🔦 Could you quickly find flashlights and batteries?
📱 Were phones and backup chargers ready to go?
đź“» Did you have a reliable way to receive weather alerts and updates?
🥶 Did you know how to keep food safe during the outage?
â›˝ Was your vehicle fueled in case you needed to travel or charge devices?

Preparedness is not about being perfect — even small improvements can make a big difference during the next storm.

Tonight is a night to stay weather aware—being prepared can make all the difference.

A significant severe weather threat is expected across Kansas. Storms will be capable of producing tornadoes, very large hail, damaging winds, and heavy rainfall.

The main window for our area is around 10 PM – 3 AM, but storms could begin as early as 8 PM. This is a night where impacts could develop quickly, and conditions may change fast.

NOW is the time to prepare:
📱 Set multiple ways to receive warnings that WILL wake you up
🚨 Do NOT rely on outdoor warning sirens as your only source of alerts
🏠 Know your shelter location ahead of time and be ready to move quickly if watches and / or warnings are issued
🔋 Charge devices now and keep them within reach overnight

A few minutes of preparation this evening can make a major difference when it matters most. Stay alert and continue monitoring updates through the night.

05/15/2026

It will be a busy weekend across the area with graduations, outdoor ceremonies, sporting events, and other activities planned from Friday through Sunday. As you make plans to celebrate, make sure you are also staying weather aware.

Strong to severe storms will be possible at times this weekend. If storms develop, large hail, damaging winds, and heavy rain will be possible.

If you are attending or hosting an outdoor event:
• Have multiple ways to receive weather warnings
• Know where you will go if storms approach
• Don’t wait until severe weather is already happening to make decisions
• Make sure family, staff, and guests know the plan

Looking ahead, Monday is starting to look like a potentially significant weather day across the region. We will provide updates as we get closer, but if you prepare now, you are ready for storms this weekend and it will be one less thing you have to worry about on Monday.
