Our hearts are with the members of the Winfield Volunteer Fire Department as they mourn the loss of Roger "Pogo" Sheets, their longest-serving member. We extend our deepest condolences to Pogo's family, his fire service family, and everyone whose lives he touched through his remarkable 65 years of dedicated service. Please keep the entire WVFD family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Rest easy, Pogo. Your legacy of service will never be forgotten.
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our longest serving member, Roger โPogoโ Sheets, a cornerstone of the Winfield Volunteer Fire Department and a beloved figure throughout our community.
Pogo dedicated 65 years of service to WVFD, holding every position from Junior Firefighter all the way to Chief. His commitment, leadership, and steady presence shaped generations of firefighters and strengthened the department in ways that will be felt for decades to come.
Whether he was mentoring new members, sharing stories around the station, or lending a hand anywhere it was needed, Pogo was always there. He was more than a firefighter, he was family, a friend, and a constant source of pride for Winfield.
We are grateful for his lifetime of service and the legacy he leaves behind. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all who had the honor of serving beside him. Please also keep WVFD in your prayers as we navigate this new norm with a void that may never be filled. Rest easy Pogo, we've got it from here...
