Putnam County EMS Mourns the Loss of Our First Director

It is with profound sadness that Putnam County EMS announces the passing of Quentin Rooper, our department’s first director, who served from 1975 through 1987.

Mr. Rooper was there at the beginning of Putnam County EMS and helped lay the foundation for the organization we are today. His leadership, dedication, and commitment to serving the people of Putnam County helped shape generations of EMS professionals who followed him.

His legacy continued through his family, with his children also serving PCEMS and his granddaughter continuing that tradition of service today.

We extend our deepest condolences to the Rooper family and all those who had the privilege of knowing and serving alongside him.

Thank you for your service to Putnam County, Mr. Rooper. Your legacy will not be forgotten.

Putnam EMS is now accepting registrations for our EMT Class of 2026, where you’ll gain the knowledge, hands-on skills, and confidence needed to begin a rewarding career serving your community.

🕔 Class Schedule: Tuesdays & Thursdays | 5:00–10:00 PM
📍 Location: Putnam County EMS
