🌪️ TORNADO WATCH ISSUED UNTIL 2:00 AM

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for Montgomery County and much of west-central Indiana until 2:00 AM EDT Friday.

A Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for the development of tornadoes and severe thunderstorms. It does not mean a tornado is occurring, but now is the time to stay weather aware and be prepared to take shelter if warnings are issued.

✔️ Have multiple ways to receive warnings overnight.
✔️ Charge your phone and keep emergency alerts enabled.
✔️ Review your safe place and be ready to move there quickly if a Tornado Warning is issued.
✔️ Never rely solely on outdoor warning sirens.

Counties included in the watch are Boone, Carroll, Clinton, Fountain, Howard, Montgomery, Parke, Tippecanoe, Tipton, Vermillion, and Warren.

Montgomery County Emergency Management & Homeland Security will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as needed.

Our department has suffered the tragic loss of one of our own. We ask that you keep our members, along with Justin’s family, and our brothers and sisters of the Mellott Volunteer Fire Department and Fountain County EMS, in your thoughts and prayers.
Justin was truly an amazing man who devoted his life to serving and protecting others. For us at CCFR he was a guy that didn't have to help us, he chose us. He was close friends with many members on this department. His dedication, compassion, and service to our community will never be forgotten.

🚨 SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING – NEARBY COUNTIES 🚨

The National Weather Service Indianapolis has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 9:30 PM EDT for areas just west and northwest of Montgomery County, including Fountain, Warren, and parts of Parke and Vermillion counties.

⚠️ What This Means for Montgomery County

While this warning is not currently in Montgomery County, this line of storms is moving east at 50 mph and will continue toward our area. We are closely monitoring this system as it approaches.

🌪️ Storm Hazards
* 💨 Wind gusts up to 70 mph
* 🧊 Nickel-size hail
* 🌳 Significant tree damage likely
* 🏠 Potential damage to roofs, mobile homes, and outbuildings
* 🌊 Torrential rain → localized flooding possible

Storms are expected to approach Montgomery County shortly if they hold together.
